Description Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-01-04 06:16:01 UTC
We already had some discussion by e-mail, but currently I can not see what might hinder.

@joren:
Can you please contribute a step by step instruction how to reproduce your problem, especially how you tried to subscribe and how you see that your subscription has been rejected?

The Freedesktop-hosted lists are out of our scope. Cc'ing Tollef, who has administrative access there.
Comment 2 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-01-04 08:05:29 UTC
I have some limited admin permissions

Before we call in FDO I would like to understand what happens.

But indeed, it's also my suspect that it's a more more general problem.

@Joren:
Are you able to subscribe to other global lists like <website@global.libreoffice.org>

First of all: thanks for your time!

Ok, here we go.

How to reproduce:
* go to https://www.libreoffice.org/
* Get Help
* Mailing lists
* Scroll down and look at the last entry: 'Quality assurance and testing is discussed on our dedicated ---->QA mailing list.<-----'
* This directs me to http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-qa

* Now I'm on a page with 'About Libreoffice-qa', 'Using Libreoffice-qa', 'Subscribing to Libreoffice-qa', 'Libreoffice-qa Subscribers'
* In 'Subscribing to Libreoffice-qa' I enter my emailadress (joren {point} libreoffice {at} telenet {point} be) (yes, without spaces and that words replaced off course :) ).
*'Would you like to receive list mail batched in a daily digest?' is by default 'NO', I don't/didn't change that.
* With my email filled in as only needed information: my name is optional to fill in and when I don't give up a password, they'll generate one for me.
* Click 'subscribe'

Current behavior:
Libreoffice-qa Subscription results
The email address you supplied is banned from this mailing list. If you think this restriction is erroneous, please contact the list owners at libreoffice-qa-owner@lists.freedesktop.org.

I'll upload a screenshot of it.

Screenshot of the 'rejection'

PS: I did try some combinations by filling my name in, by filling a password, etc. I made all possible combinations.

What I'm now thinking: this is an alias email address... is it possible my primary email address is 'banned' and he 'sees' that (I don't know how or why ...)?

To make sure you can check or following email address is on the blacklist: joren (point) de (pont) cuyper (at) telenet (poin) be

Thanks in advance,
Joren

No, simply administrator's ignorance ;-)

With additional info here I was able to reproduce Joren's problem.
I was able to fix the settings, afterwards I was able to subscribe Joren the same way he tried.

@joren:
You should have got email concerning confirmation, please confirm your subscription. May be you want to use a more secure password than the one I used (info by OM).

I can confirm that I'm now successfully subscribed to the mailinglist!

Thanks for your help,
Joren
