Thanks for reporting!

Can't confirm this; No problem during installation of LibreOffice 4.0.0.1 (=RC1). Tested with Windows 7 x64. The release candidate will be officially released soon; Could you please try with that version?

Maybe this could be an user profile problem: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resetting_the_user_profile

Is it possible for you to reset your user profile for LibreOffice 4.0 (Make sure you reset the right user profile; this is NOT THE SAME as the libreoffice 3.x if you already installed an 3.x version of LibreOffice).

Can you please let us know or this does resolve your problem? If this does resolve your problem, please set bug status to 'RESOLVED; WORKSFORME'; If not, please 'REOPEN' this bug. Until your respons I set this bug status to 'NEEDINFO';

Kind regards,
Joren

I see the same error as Alexander (error 1304) with 4.0rc1 (4.0.0.1).
My error message is in italian and can be translated as:
------------
Error 1304. Error while writing cli_basetype.dll. Check that you have the permission to access the folder.
------------
I don't know what folder is talking about...
The error message show up during the "Coping new files..." phase of the installer and the options you have are: retry and cancel. If i press retry, i get a new alert that shows: "internal error 2350". The only thing i can do is press ok and the installar start falling back its operation, then ends.

The same error happens if i upgrade from 3.6.4 and with a fresh installation.

My PC is Windows 2000 Pro SP4, FAT32 formatted and from the control panel i see two "MS Visual C++ 2008 redistributable" package installed: version 9.0.30729.17 and 9.0.30729.4148.

I've not tested comment #2 proposal to reset the user profile folder: i don't get why the profile should be involved during the setup phase?? If you really think it's worth doing, i'll try that: it takes a long time to uninstall LO 3.6.4, reinstall 4.0 and go back to 3.6.4 in this old PC...

Cesare.

Ok; because it's reproducible by an independent system we can set this bug as NEW. Thanks for reporting! I can't do anything more on this; It's now up to a developer to take a look :-).

With this commit Win2000 is not supported anymore:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=19edf0dca7d759f15929f6b701f3e6b6d1e8b955

So i can't help you anymore.

It's great, but in my case it was with Windows 7 x64

Any existing user profile (i.e., %APPDATA%\LibreOffice folder) should indeed not be relevant here.

I've had the same issue with the installer on Win 7 x64. Solved by installing .net 4.5.
Comment 9 gordon.lack 2013-02-08 19:58:48 UTC
This was claimed to be fixed according to #58275 (so I've re-opened that).

But I also had this problem on Win7-64bit.

The command-line "solution" in that ticket (msiexec ...) didn't work either, so I've had to installed .net 4.5 in order to get LO-4.0 in place.

So this bug is 'fixed'?
Comment 11 gordon.lack 2013-02-10 01:29:28 UTC
No. LibreOffice is *meant* to install without .net 4.0 being in place (Bug 58275). Installing .net 4.x is a workaround, not a fix.
