Created attachment 73032 [details] original, unedited document, fails to load, gives general input/output error on open at least I'm pretty sure it's 3.6.4.3, --version gives me 3.6, and I ran apt-get update beforehand Anyways: After making a writer document (saved in .rtf), I played around with footnotes and endnotes, inserting both into the document. I ended up not using footnotes at all, and went with endnotes. So I did some work, made a total of 6 endnotes, saved it, and IIRC didn't exit cleanly. So I do pm-suspend, come back later, try an open it, and it tries to recover the file. It fails, and then gives me a dialog: General Error: General input/output error So I try and fix this, bunch of stuff, including editing the raw data, doesn't work. Eventually I open it up in abiword, and that works. The document is prepended with "level " or some such, and the endnote formatting is a bit off, but it opens. So I delete teh "level ", put a page break before the endnotes, change the endotes to double space, save, and it now opens in lowriter. Original files: http://speedy.sh/zJzBp/works.rtf //after editing with abiword http://speedy.sh/xsxyF/notwork.rtf Steps to reproduce: 1. Open notwork.rtf 2. ??? 3. Non-profit. Current behavior: Opening notwork.rtf in lowriter gives general input/output error starting lowriter gives message: javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment! Please ensure that a JVM and the package libreoffice-java-common is installed. If it is already installed then try removing ~/.libreoffice/3/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml Warning: failed to read path from javaldx Fontconfig warning: "/usr/lib/libreoffice/share/fonts/truetype/fc_local.conf", line 13: Having multiple <family> in <alias> isn't supported and may not works as expected not sure about the first message, I apt-got that package, still gives that message. also, I moved ~/.config/libreoffice/ to a different directory Expected behavior: Opening in lowriter shouldn't give an error Operating System: Ubuntu Version: 3.6.4.3 release
Hi M8R-y8ewcd, thanks for reporting. The notwork.rtf crash LibreOffice. Reproducible with: Win7x64 Ultimate. Version 3.6.4.3 Version 4.0.0.1 (Build ID: 527dba6f6e0cfbbc71bd6e7b88a52699bb48799) Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 612981fc8fd7a35d8112951e05e1b2cf0f5f1c0)
Created attachment 73166 [details] console logs on master On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I reproduced the problem. I attached console logs. So after having tried to load the rtf, I got: - a popup error telling: File format error found at 220,1(row,col) - the window stays blank - window loading bar (at the bottom of the Writer window) was freezed to about 98% however I could write down something
Miklós: one for you?
I can not open the file with LibreOffice 4.5.2 and 4.3.0 on Debian. MS WordViewer fails to open it too. As the file was created with Writer, is it better to consider filesave issue? According to comment 1 I set platform to "all"
To give it a new try, I opened the rtf file with Abiword 3.0.0. I saved the file again in rtf + rtf old. Both files could be opened with LO Debian package 4.3.0.4. on file attached, I noticed this: {\colortbl;\red0\green0\blue0;\red128\green128\blue128;\level ^@^@^@\level ^@^@^@\level ^@^@^@} but even when removing this line, I still fail to open it with 4.3.0.4 or master sources updated today. I wonder if the file attached is a correct RTF file. I didn't find any rtf validator online to check. Any idea?
I cannot open notwork.rtf with Word 2010 neither, it says 'The file appears to be corrupted'. Please provide a correct file in order to verify the issue. Meanwhile I change the status to 'NEEDINFO'.
(In reply to Alexandr from comment #4) > As the file was created with Writer, is it better to consider filesave issue? Yes, but reporter didn't leave the address, so Needinfo is useless. Invalid.
