Created attachment 73754 [details] odp file with 2 slildes and additional explanations Problem description: I have to 2 set of objects on 1 slide. Each set consist of 2 text boxes and 1 column chart. 1 text box is just the copy of the equivalent text box from the another set. 1 text box is the copy of the equivalent text box from the other set but text is modified. One column chart is the copy of the other but the data are modified. Right set of objects can be grouped, the left set not (see attachment). Error message: This function cannot be run with selected objects. On the left side the 2 text boxes can be grouped, when the chart is included in grouping error message occurs. Neither of the two left side text boxes can be grouped with the chart. And additional test showed that the original column chart cannot be grouped with a text box but the copy of the chart can be copied with a text box. Selection was done in 2 ways: 1 - Select object, hold SHIFT and the select the other object(s) 2 - Select using the selection frame Futher details require a look at the slide, thus slide is attached with additional information Steps to reproduce: 1. ctrl+n to get a new slide 2. click chart symbol in the middle of the left frame to insert a chart 3. click somewhere on empty space to leave edit mode for chart 4. add text box below chart 5. Select text box and chart (hold down shift and select or selection frame lead to the same result) 6. click group icon on toolbar 7. error message occurs 8. select each object alone and do crtl+c and ctrl+v 9. move each pasted object alone to the right side 10. select both objects on the right side as described in 5. 11. click group icon on toolbar 12. result: both elements are grouped alternative to 8 - 10 both elements can be selected on the left side copied and pasted together and moved together to the right side. Clicking the group icon groups both elements on the right side together Current behavior: An original column chart cannot be grouped with a text box but the copy of the chart can be copied with a text box. Expected behavior: The original column chart can be grouped with a text box I can be contacted. Operating System: Windows XP Version: 3.6.4.3 release
As I observed this problem yesterday many times I found a workaround. Copy & Paste the chart which doesn't group and delete the original.
[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.6.5.2 " German UI/ German Locale [Build-ID: 5b93205] {pull date 2013-01-18} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit), but has nothing to do with chart. Steps how to reproduce: 0. Open new presentation from LibO start center > Should show title text field an subtitle text field 1. If necessary: Menu 'Tools -> Options -> Impress -> Text Objects - Uncheck "Allow quick editing"' 2. Add 3 words to each of the text boxes 3. Draw a smiley shape 4. Click Smiley > Blue Control Poings 5. <shift+click> Title > green control points around objects group 6. Rightclick Smiley -> Group Expected: Grouped Actual: error message "This function cannot be run with the selected objects" !!! 7. <esc> 8. Redo steps 4-6, but with subtitle text box Same unexpected result, group impossible !!! 9. Redo steps 4-6, but with both text boxes Same unexpected result, group impossible !!! 10. Redo steps 4-6, but with copy of smiley and title box Same unexpected result, group impossible !!! 11. Redo steps 4-6, but with copy of title box Now works fine Not a new problem, already reproducible with LibO 3.3.3, AOOo 3.4.0, so seems inherited from OOo Same under UBUNTU I wonder what difference there might be between the original title box and a copy of it? @Thorsten: Please set Status to ASSIGNED and add yourself to "Assigned To" if you accept this Bug or forward the Bug if it's not your turf
That's broken exactly this way already in OOo 1.1.5
Reproducible with LO 4.4.0.3, Win 8.1 as per Comment 2.
