Creating a menu item

Windows XP SP3

We created numerous templates in LO 3.5.5. We created the letter/template and inserted input fields that would stop and ask the user to input the appropriate data. We then created a menu item that would show each time a blank Writer document was opened. Here are the steps we took. Tools, Customize, Menus. We added a new menu (call it Billing), then under menu content, clicked add, application, new document from template. After confirming, this adds a menu item called Billing. Tools, Options, LibreOffice paths would point to the template directory on the network. In LO 3.5.5 this would open the template the user chose, then prompt them for input fields. The input data would then be inserted in the letter.

We are hoping to upgrade to version 4.0.0.3, but when we try to duplicate what worked in LO 3.5.5, the template doesn't stop at the input fields to prompt the user for data.

We have found that if the template is opened (File, Open (browse to network directory)), the template will prompt the user for input. However, we would like to be able to create the menu selection for opening the templates directly from a Writer document the way we were able to in LO 3.5.5.

@Karen : could you provide a sample template with input fields that worked in 3.5 and now no longer works ? Just the simplest of docs that shows the problem.

If there is anything confidential, please rename the fields/template content to something more anonymous.

Thanks,

Alex

Alex,

I will try to resend the attachment as a PDF file, and a sample template.

Template in LO 3.5.5 that pauses for user input

Attached is a template created in LO 3.5.5. When opened from the menu item that I created for opening templates, the template will stop and prompt the user for input.

I don't think this should be marked as duplicate. They are using different operating systems. We use Windows XP, and the other user was using Windows 8.

I expect it will be the same bug - Windows XP or Windows 8 will not have that much influence on the behaviour.
Pls be so kind to check the daily builds soon, as Rafael points to in bug 61959.
thanks,

Tested in 4.0.3 and it's fine there. So marking again as fixed/dupl.
