Problem description: If you create a new master slide you have 5 text areas that you can edit, but you cannot add an additional one. I'd like to create a master with two text areas side by side in the main content area for example. Another case is when you delete the existing placeholder, you cannot recreate it with the insert menu. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new odp presentation 2. Go to View => Master => slide master 3. Try to create a new text placeholder in an existing master slide Current behavior: not possible. You cannot even copy an existing text placeholder Expected behavior: There should be a context sensitive entry in the Insert menu that lets you create as many text placeholders as you like. Additionally, you should be able to copy a text placeholder just like every other object. Operating System: Windows 7 Version: 4.0.0.3 release

Hi, with LibO Version: 5.1.4.2 Build-ID: f99d75f39f1c57ebdd7ffc5f42867c12031db97a CPU-Threads: 8; BS-Version: Windows 6.1; UI-Render: Standard; Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE) it is possible, to handle a) new text placeholder (e.g.side by side) with the slide Layout (it is not an issue handled in the master, but in the layout) b) in consequence the textplaceholder for the title and the main textholder (which is e.g. doubled with the layout function see above) are not deletable in the master, if you want a slide without it search for the layout and take this for the slide ;-) c) the footer is handled also not in the master slide view, it is handled in the normal mode, than you can activate and deactivate the elements of the footer within the menu slide - masterelements (in Deutsch im Menü Folie - Masterelemente) there you can activate or deactivate the areas for all the slides, which uses the same master (ok, so it seems to be a property of the master, but not handled in the master view) d) in the masterview you can add other text ranges as you like, so everything else which is not handled with the textplaceholders in the layout or in the footer could be done by this See for a)-d) in the example file. In consequence, I think this feature request is obvious, but perhaps I didn't cover it all? Cu Lothar

Thanks a lot. That explains why you cannot modify the master in the way I tried to. I still don't fully understand the interplay between master slides and layouts, but that's more an issue of the documentation than the program itself. The question how to create own layouts arises as well, but the existing layouts should cover at least 95% of all relevant cases. Therefore, it is surely not worth investing time in that.
