Description Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-10 11:38:16 UTC
Writer menu 'Insert -> File ...' allows to insert contents of a drawing file contents from existing .odg (and may be others, I do not know). No other file type will be accepted (see help), and so the menu item text should be more specific "Drawing file ..." instead of "file ...".

So this one should be proceeded exactly like Writer enhancement "Bug 62097 - UI: More intuitive text for menu 'Insert - File'"

Very same with Presentation.

You can import at least own and PowerPoint presentations and plain text, html, and rtf-text. Import of uop seems to be broken, but works in AOO.

There is a pending patch at https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/3193/ - with Regina's comment, does everybody still agree on the wording, or is this something for ux-advise?
Comment 3 Stefan Knorr (astron) 2013-04-04 15:19:21 UTC
Sounds more like an issue with the help, then...
Additionally, the wording is shared across most LibO modules, so I see no need to change this.

Vishv – our help files are in the help repository, it is usually cloned into a subfolder of core called "helpcontent2" before building LibO.
I can not give you many tips about how to change the help, but it is likely fairly easy – just changing some text between XML tags – once you know where Rainer has found the offending part.

(Oh, and keep in mind my opinion is not a final answer or anything – if the bug still makes sense to you, tell me that I'm wrong.)

Ok ,thanks for the reply. So do I have to find appropriate module in "help" to change text from "File... -> Drawing File..." ?
Also ,I have question to ask:Do these wording is shared among LibO modules via "help"?

This topic seems slightly confusing. First post mentions the Writer menu although I think he's talking about LibreOffice Draw Insert menu.

In that case the menu says "Insert->File" which would seem to be correct in my opinion since there is more to be inserted than only "Drawing Files". Additionally the help text seems to be sufficient in LibreOffice Draw for the Insert File menu.

Bug 62097 changes the "File" for all LibreOffice products which is probably not what is wanted.

To sum it up, is there anything that needs to be done?
