Example showing animation bugs

Well, animation works better than the last release, however...
Animation cannot be set for some entries on a slide.
Entries appear on slide initial display
Please view slide 10 of attached file.
Try to set animation to "Appear, On click" to each line on slide.
Aaarrgggg.....

Thanks for your help !

Not a valid bug report!

@Dave Nadler:
Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information we will
need to reproduce your problem is missing.
May be hints on <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> will help you to find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem?
Please add all information requested in following:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
(Of course we could save some FDO HDD place only creating one single Bug
"LibO STILL does not work properly", but we have some reasons why we
  don't do so)
- Contribute a document related step by step instruction containing every
key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem
(similar to example in Bug 43431)
- Tell why you attached a sample document with 41 slides, although you only
refer to Slide 10. Does the problem disappear when you delete the
  other slides?
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
(attachment 68877 [details], attachment 68490 [details])
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
-- what EXACTLY is unexpected (Edit problems? Effects unexpected during
     SLIDESHOW? ...?)
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
-- concerning your Operating System (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO localization (UI language, Locale setting)
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
(video hardware acceleration, Experimental features enabled, ...)
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
-- Whether that worked in former LibO Verions or AOOo / OOo
–- If you can contribute an AOOo Issue that might be useful
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Please
- do not touch Dropdown for importance!
- use LibreOffice menu Help → Feedback/Bugreport to report new problems
you will find, because that leads to more useful bug reports.

I'm not sure what to say here.

When I open the saved presentation (as you have), I see something
DIFFERENT from what I saved on page 10, namely some blank lines
near the bottom and one line of text just plain gone.

In the version you have, it is not possible to correctly animate
all lines to appear sequentially.

When I delete the blank lines (in the version you have) and
re-enter the missing text - now animation works.

Something is seriously flakey here.
I'm very sorry, but I MUST get this presentation done,
and I can't waste any more time trying to give you a nice
clean test case...

Good luck,
Best Regards, Dave
Comment 3 Dave Nadler 2013-03-23 20:37:32 UTC
OK - I've got a simpler test that shows something seriously buggy.

1) Open new attachment (...take3)
2) Select slide 10
3) press F5
4) note red square at bottom of screen
5) ESC to exist slideshow
6) DELETE last (blank) line of presentation
7) save presentation
8) exit Impress
9) open document again
10) Note that the line you just deleted at
the end of slide 10 has returned

Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Best Regards, Dave

Comment 5 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-23 22:12:41 UTC
Well, I think I start to understand. On silde 10 below "Code Reviews" there is an additional red square bullet without text behind it, I tried to delete that empty item iwth 2x <backspace> what seems successful, but after save -> close -> reopen the empty bullet list item is back again.

I tested with server installation of "LibO 4.0.1.2 release - German UI / German Locale [Build ID: 84102822e3d61eb989ddd325abf1ac077904985)]" {tinderbox: @6, pull time 2013-02-28 08:53(?)} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with newly created user profile ….\LibreOffice\4012\,

will do some more tests tomorrow.

@Dave Nadler
Currently no more info required.

@Dave -
Please update the title to better reflect the issue, the current title isn't helpful at all. Also words like STILL in caps comes off a bit strong and could be construed as offensive - please remember that this is a volunteer based project, most of us are here only to help and do so for no pay what so ever.
Comment 7 Joel Madero 2013-03-23 23:21:06 UTC
also STILL seems to imply that this is an ongoing issue that has been around - did you happen to take the time to search FDO to see if there is a similar issue already reported, thus making this a duplicate
Comment 8 Dave Nadler 2013-03-24 00:15:37 UTC
Earlier (closed ?) bugs related to animation are:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60281
Also 60206

It looks like there is another bug that is causing
the animation to go awry; not sure if the title
should be updated again.

Rainer is best placed to change the title based on
what else he finds with the "undeletable" and
"unanimatable" last line on slide 10...

Thanks for the help,
Best Regards, Dave
Comment 9 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-24 08:25:11 UTC
I think I am some closer to the root. Based on reporters sample "2013-03-23 20:38 UTC, Dave Nadler" I did several tests and now found the roots of the problem. With the attachment you will find a description how to create your own sample document from the scratch. You will find my sample attached with next comment.

Steps how to reproduce NewSample.odp with server installation of "LibO 4.0.1.2 release - German UI / German Locale [Build ID: 84102822e3d61eb989ddd325abf1ac077904985)]" {tinderbox: @6, pull time 2013-02-28 08:53(?)} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with newly created user profile ….\LibreOffice\4012\

1. Open Sample Document
2. Double Click blue rectangle
   > Edit mode
3. <control+end> for caret position behind "Line 10"
4. <Backspace>, hold and / or pressuntil Lines 10 is deleted
and caret flashes behind "Line 9"
5. Save with new name -> close -> reopen
   Expected: "Line 10" deleted
   Actual: "Line 10" has reappeared

For a new test you can increase rectangle hight after step 1 by dragging bottom border of rectangle down far below "Line 10", what will make the problem disappear.

Already [Reproducible] with
* server installation of "LOdev 4.0.0.1+ - ENGLISH UI / German Locale [Build ID: 072fc07107e9849ed7050d18575b42049db9657)]" {tinderbox: Win-x86@6, pull time 2013-01-16 09:31:57} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with own separate User Profile
* 4.0.0.3

Was Still OK with
* Server installation of Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 6a393297ce6d99bbc4edefbf01ab9c5c6f0eff8)
TinderBox: Win-x86@6, Branch:master, Time: 2013-01-04_01:06:01
* unzipped installation of "LOdev 4.0.0.0.alpha1+ - ENGLISH UI / German Locale [Build ID: af60316514f3ae3d4c475819bf86f2af837171e)]" {tinderbox: Win-x86@6, pull time 2012-11-23 22:10:31} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with own separate User Profile

@David:
Please also never touch Status dropdown!
The only thing we need is a clear, detailed and sound description how to reproduce that what you consider to be a bug, nothing else.
This one does not need any more input by you.

Comment 11 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-24 10:04:12 UTC
It seems that the problem is limited to Impress (no problem in DRAW) an to outlines (See Bug 62687)

Modify Version due to my results.

@Thorsten:
Please add Whiteboard tag "bibisectrequest" if you think that a bibisect result can ease your work.
Please change Status to ASSIGNED and add yourself to "Assigned To" if you accept this Bug or forward the Bug if it's not your turf.

With new steps/explanation I can confirm on Linux as well. Marking as ALL

Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 9a46e5614f5a0e0bdce3c497f81ca529da8fb5c)
Date: Mon Mar 18 18:59:09 2013 +0100
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64

Unfortunately commit must have happened after last commit in bibisect so that isn't an option
