Spreadsheet that slowed down LibreOffice (containing some half-complete stuff for a role play)

Problem description: When I edit a rather big spreadsheet, LibreOffice starts reacting extremly slowly to all keys including arrow keys after a few minutes, sometimes taking a second for each arrow down.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make or load a big spreadsheet (for example the one attached)
2. edit it for a few minutes (for example enter single letters into empty cells)

Current behavior: reacts extremly slowly on a rather new computer

Expected behavior: normal speed

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.2.1 rc

I couldn't reproduce this behavior, in my opinion it will be a memory missing problem, or some kind of hardware problem.

Versions: 4.0.1.2, 4.0.2.2, master
Operating system: Win 7 64 bit

How much RAM do you have on your machine?

Also check the following settings:

Tools -> Options -> Memory

How many undo steps? if these edits are relatively complex, each undo will take up quite a bit of RAM

How much memory allocated to each of the other things? Maybe increasing these is a good idea.

Lastly, have you monitored your RAM usage when working on the document? If it's creeping up slowly, might be a RAM leak.

I will investigate also but for now marking as NEEDINFO, once you provide those details mark as UNCONFIRMED (if I am able to reproduce and see the issue I may move forward as confirmed before you get to it but figured I would mark as NEEDINFO for now).

Thanks

According to the Windows Task Manager, I have 16336 MB RAM and my spreadsheet first filled 11% of it and after some editing steps 12% but then the percentage did not change again. Instead, after about half an hour, every arrow key and even worse every page down key led to a spike of CPU use, using up to 32%, which coresponded to very slow reactions of LibreOffice. Saving used up to 30% of CPU capacity and in some cases the Enter key or normal letters led to lower spikes of CPU use.

According to the options in LibreOffice, I can undo up to 100 times and there is Cache 20 MB and memory per object 5.2 MB. I did not change any of this, LibreOffice just came to me like that.

Not reproducible on LO 4.0.4.2 (Win7 32bit), it reacts fast enough while trying to do some editing in attached file.

I'm using default LO memory settings (unless undo steps only 50) & only 1.3Ghz Pentium dual processor with 2GB RAM.

In my opinion, Windows system easily fragmented after sometime. So we should regularly do defragment & some cleaning (I use CCleaner & System Ninja).

Please try also latest stable release & resetting user profile. I would suggest this is not a bug.

not reproducible with LibO 4.1.3.2 under Win7 64bit
I mark this as RESOLVED WORKSFORME since many Windows users were not able to reproduce.

I suggest the reported to upgrade to a recent 4.1.3.2 release.
