Created attachment 77450 [details] Illustrates disappearing index entry Open example file. Right click on index entry at beginning of line "FLARM task declaration sometimes fails" and choose "Index Entry..." Change level to 3 Click on "OK" At this point paragraph is highlighted and index entry has disappeared. Now try the clicking the arrows for previous/next index entries. Additional index entries will be destroyed... The index entries in this document were created as you see because there's no support for "Run-in headers": Where the initial part of a paragraph is used as an index entry and formatted differently... Could you please give more information to reproduce this issue. You wrote "choose 'Index Entry...'". Do you mean that I have to do a right mouse click and then have to choose EDIT INDEX/TABLE? Furthermore, you wrote "Change level to 3". Do you mean to go the tab ENTRIES and change there the level to 3? If I do that, then nothing happens? In addition, you wrote "Now try the clicking the arrows for previous/next index entries." Could you please give more information how this can be reproduced. Which arrows do you mean? Thank you very much.
Dave: after adding the requested info, please set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks :)
1) Open example file. 2a) Right click on gray area (indicating index entry field) at beginning of line "FLARM task declaration sometimes fails" 2b) Click on "Index Entry..." 3) In the "Edit Index Entry" dialog 3a) click on the "up arrow" to change level of index entry to 3 3b) Click on "OK" BUG: At this point paragraph is highlighted and index entry has disappeared. 4) Now try the clicking the arrows for previous/next index entries. Additional index entries will be destroyed... The annoying index entries in this document were created because there's no support for "Run-in headers" (Where the initial part of a paragraph is used as an index entry and formatted differently, but the text runs on from the heading)... Thanks ! Best Regards, Dave
@Dave: Thanks for your fast reply. But unfortunately I still have problems to reproduce it (LO 4.0.2.2 [Win7 Home, 64bit]). What I have done: Step 1: Open WRITER Step 2: Open the attached document Step 3: Right mouse click on the gray area at the beginning of the line "FLARM task declaration sometimes fails" and go to EDIT INDEX/TABLE in the context menu Note: I do not have a menu item "Index Entry..." in the context menu. Do you have such an item? Step 4: Go to the tab ENTRIES and choose Level 3 Note: I do not have here any up or down arrows. Therefore, I can't reproduce your step 4. Result: Nothing happens. Therefore, there must be a misunderstanding. Could you please check the steps once more and give a feedback where is the wrong step/misunderstanding.
The exact text of the context menu line is "Index Entry..." with "x" underlined, displayed above the context menu line "Edit Paragraph Style..." Unfortunately I can't get a screen shot as the context menu disappears as soon as I move focus to a different window... Please find attachments showing steps using a camera !!! Thanks, Best Regards, Dave

@Dave: Thank you very much for the screenshots. This explains now one misunderstanding by me. I understood that you mean in your step 2a the gray index area on page 1. On page 3 I have now this menu item INDEX ENTRY... in the context menu und there I can change it to level 3. Result: This paragraph is highlighted and is no longer an index entry. After updating the index on page 1 this entry also disappears here. But, I can't open the "Edit Index Entry" dialog to reproduce this. Where can I find it? This issue has to be investigated once more in more detail. @Rainer: Can you maybe take a look at it, whether you can reproduce it?
Sorry, I don't understand your question ? The context menu will not show "Index Entry" after it was destroyed. Also, make sure to try moving between index entries with the arrow keys as this will clobber additional index entries. Hope this helps ! Best Regards, Dave
Correct, I can confirm the context menu will no longer show INDEX ENTRY after it was destroyed. I can also confirm that if you move between the index entries with the arrow keys it will clobber additional index entries. To reproduce this you need to use the large arrows in the bottom right, not the small arrows next to the LEVEL field.
Could not reproduce. I was able to change the level from 2 to 3 and all index entries were preserved when using the previous/next arrows. Windows Vista 64 Version: 4.4.2.2 Build ID: c4c7d32d0d49397cad38d62472b0bc8acff48dd6 Changed to RESOLVED WORKSFORME.
