Description John Smith 2013-04-13 20:17:15 UTC
Problem description:
Removing or adding elements from/to the structure line for all Type list entries except Book, has no effect on the table produced.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a new text document and add a paragraph of text.
2. Insert any Bibliography entry (Insert > Indexes and Tables > Bibliography Entry), using the 'From bibliography database' option.
3. Select Insert > Indexes and Tables > Indexes and Tables.
4. Select Bibliography in the 'Type' drop-down list.
5. Select the 'Entries' tab.
6. The 'Type' list defaults to 'Article'. Retain this setting.
7. Remove elements from the structure line, such as 'Sh' and 'Ye', by clicking on each and then pressing 'Remove'.
8. Click the 'OK' button to insert the table.

This behaviour is the same for all list entries in the 'Type' list on the 'Entries' page except for 'Book'.

Current behavior:
The table is inserted with all the default elements included in the table.

Expected behavior:
The table should be created with only those elements selected in the structure line.

Operating System: Windows XP
Version: 4.0.2.2 release

The bug of which this is a duplicate contains a workaround for this issue in the description i.e., an alternate way of editing the type (Article, Book, etc.) of an entry in the associated bibliographic database. This then allows the detail in the related structure for the entry in the biblio table to be displayed as expected.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 61426 ***

It seems strange that you class this bug as resolved because you can get around what is wrong, instead of putting right the problem.
This strikes me as being very unsatisfactory.
How will this work-around help users? Is it going to be documented in the Help files as the official way to use this function?
