Description SueSchmidt1 2013-05-20 05:30:32 UTC
Problem description:
I often have a need to search through my spreadsheets to find data, but imagine my surprise with the 4.0.3.3 release when I pressed Ctrl+F and saw the function appear up the sidebar on the left side of the screen! I was unable to find a way to type my search items there and set my work aside for the day. The next morning, however, I was unable to recreate that and instead when I type Ctrl+F, absolutely nothing happens. I do not like using the Find/Replace function Ctrl+H because its interface is so large it blocks out more than half my screen

Steps to reproduce:
1. ....
2. ....
3. ....

Current behavior:

When I type Ctrl+F, absolutely nothing happens. The lack of this function is almost enough to make me go back to my first choice of spreadsheets, Quattro.

Expected behavior:

In all previous versions that I've used, when I type Ctrl+F, a text box opens in the bottom right corner of the app window. This would be perfect.

Sidenote:

In addition to the Find/Replace box, some of the other boxes that are used by this program are much too large (my screen's resolution is 1600 x 900) such as the Format screen. When they're open, it is virtually impossible to see the text within the app behind it. Making them adjustable in the same way that the print box is would be a huge help.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.3.3 release

Strange..I see nothing wrong using lO 4.0.3.3 (Win7 32bit)

Could you check menu: View > Toolbars > Find (should be checked)

Thank you for your quick response to my bug report. Attached are two screenshots showing what happens when the File option is toggled on and off. As you can see, the spreadsheet seems to shift over the width of that blank bar on the right side of the screen. Originally in older versions, the File box would appear at the bottom right hand side roughly where the words "Sheets 1-7" appear now. The problem seems to affect the spreadsheet part of LibreOffice only.

Hm..possibly not a bug. Seems that you accidentally moved Find toolbar to the left.

I'll let you know if I know how to reset toolbar. Or anyone can confirm or help?

Hi SueSchmidt1

Please try following steps:
1. Select Menu: View > Toolbars > Customize
2. Toolbars > Toolbar : choose Find
3. Click 'Toolbar' button under 'New' button > Restore Default Settings > Yes > OK
4. Drag dashed line near Find Text bar & move it to bottom postion you want

If that fail, please attach screenshot what's happen after above steps. But if that solved, please change status to: RESOLVED NOTABUG

Thanks for your help in resetting the default in my Calc spreadsheet. Although I tried to follow your step-by-step instructions, I was unable to find "Find Text" as one of the options on Calc Toolbar Menu. I did find "Find & Replace Text," so I was able to fix the problem by taking to heart your supposition that I'd somehow accidentally moved the text box by dragging it. It took a little bit of time to get the conditions right, but I found eventually that if I had the app set on "Full Screen" mode, that box suddenly became very easy to move by "Drag & Drop." Once I'd figured out how to recreate that, I was able to drag the textbox back to where it belonged. I don't actually remember dragging it in the first place, but I have no doubt that I must have. Thanks for all your help!
