Please try with a fresh profile - I haven't seen anyone else reporting this problem with millions of users many of them running W7 on later 4.0 releases.

If you were running 4.0.0.x you were running a pre-release which maybe did something strange to your profile.

FWIW - I am running 4.0.4 on Windows 7 without a problem

Marking as WFM - if resetting your profile and following the forum posts don't solve your problem please leave a comment and mark bug as UNCONFIRMED again.

Thanks, hopefully those things solve your problem as it's quite serious
