Description PeeWee 2013-06-09 09:36:37 UTC
Problem description:
When editing a Writer file containing frames for figures and cross referencing for figures, each time I make an edit to the text or move a figure frame the automatic figure numbers and cross references change.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Using Mac OS X, edit text by deletion or inserting characters OR move a figure frame to a new position OR insert a new figure frame OR delete a figure frame.
2. Tested same file using Windows and Ubuntu OS, automatic numbering and cross referencing works as expected.

Current behaviour:
The automatic numbering for each figure changes to a lower number. For example, move Figure 6 to a new position and its number becomes Figure 5. Any cross reference to Figure 6 also changes to Figure 5.

Expected behavior:
There should be no change to the automatic numbering or cross references to figure frames when text is edited or a figure frame is moved, inserted or deleted.

Observation:
When you double click on a frame border to open the properties dialog, click on the Options tab. In Name, the frame has automatically been given a number as part of its name, for example Frame1, Frame2 and so on. This frame numbering sequence is allocated when a frame is inserted into a Writer document and does not follow the sequence of numbering of where the frame is positioned in the document. For example, there are ten frames in a document, insert a new frame before frame6 and the new frame is named frame11.

Could this be causing problems with the automatic numbering facility in Writer.
Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.0.3.3 release

Hello

Attached is Chapter 7 of the Calc Guide, which I am presently working on.

In the section "Operators in formulas" on Page 6 you will the message “Error: Reference source not found”. The reference is for Figure 2 which appears on Page 7. I have already corrected this error message twice by going to Insert > Cross-reference on the main menu bar. From the Fields > Cross-reference dialog I selected Figure, the figure being used, and then Category and Number. The cross reference is then inserted. I then go to Tools > Update > Update All on the main menu bar and save the file.

This is an irregular, but persistent bug in LibreOffice Writer. Sometimes I do not have the problem for days, then it starts again no matter which file I open.

It is interesting to note that when I edit this field under MacOS 10.6.8 using v4.3.0.3 Build ID: fcd3838c4097f7817b5b3984fd88a44e1edd8548 the Edit Field dialog shows a blank Type selection (refer attached). It does appear to be correctable under this version, however I have not tested it for any length of time.

The numbering in the legend of the figures does not make the proper sequence when adding copied texts, even when using the command Tools -> Update
