In Calc: Why are Freeze and Split placed in the Window menu? I think the Window menu is only for managing windows but not for document internal settings that can be saved to the document. Users won't expect actions to modify a documents view in the Window menu. I suggest to move both to the View menu. Additionally I suggest to rename them to "Freeze lines/rows" and "Split lines/rows". Without renaming it isn't clear what will be freezed or splitted. And because selecting "Freeze" will automatically deselect "Split" (and also the other way around) I suggest to use radio-buttons instead of check-boxes. Maybe both should be put into a new sub-menu of View. Structure: Lines/Rows: - Split - Freeze - None
Hi, Thanks for your report and the ideas. Are you willing to bring this to the UX list, to discuss it? http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise I set the version to 3.3.0 - the current situation is there as long as LibreOffice exists. Regards - Cor
@Cor Nouws Thanks you. I just don't have so much time right now, also because I already have too much mailinglists too care about. That's why I'll leave it as a bug report for now. But if anybody likes: Please take the topic to the mailinglist.
This was fixed as part of the menu reorganization in bug 91820, so both have moved to the view menu and freeze was renamed to 'Freeze Rows and Columns' and split was renamed to 'Split Window'.
