Description mingdao 2013-07-06 16:31:01 UTC
LibreOffice 4.0.4.2, Windows 7 Home Premium.

When changing fonts, LibreOffice crashes. I can attach a file if needed, or a log if Windows creates one and you can tell me the location. It only seems to crash when I highlight text, then click the Font Name drop down menu, and scroll through the fonts with the middle wheel of my mouse. If I just click to select a font that's already showing, or scroll with the up or down arrows in the drop down menu, it does not crash.

The reporter also commented to me (on IRC) that this happens on every file they have tried and that it did not happen with a previous version. No fonts were installed to the system before or after the upgrade to 4.0.4.
Comment 3 Julien Nabet 2013-07-21 09:35:13 UTC
mingdao: a font may trigger the crash, the problem is to know which one (or which ones)?
Could you indicate which fonts did you install (which are not out of the box via Windows or LibreOffice)? + if any, did you update them to their last version?

No fonts have been installed except those that came with Windows 7, or which some software installed on the computer.

The test file (attached to bug report) was typed using Times New Roman. It will crash as stated in the bug report. Not by choosing another font, but just by scrolling through the font list. I believe it's related to the speed of using the mouse's scroll wheel to scroll through the list of fonts.

I have never updated a font. I'll attach a list of the fonts in that system.

mingdao: thank you for your feedback. Could you rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and give it a new try?

After changing the profile LibreOffice still crashes while scrolling through fonts in the drop down menu.

If there are no logs created, how would anyone know what caused the crash?
Comment 9 mingdao 2014-02-17 11:31:23 UTC
After upgrading LibreOffice to 4.1.5 the crash still occurs.

Where would Windows store a log file, or how can we strace this in Windows?

mingdao: thank you for your feedback. Here's a link which might help you:

Tor/Michael: sorry for this naive question but what about putting some logs (eg: on a subdirectory of profile) so we'd have an equivalent, in a file, to console logs on Linux? Are there any technical challenges?
