Description bugquestcontri 2013-07-13 12:50:16 UTC
Problem description:
The styles in LibO are great! However, when styles need to be compared for corrections, modifications etc it becomes pretty cumbersome and time consuming to compare 2 styles.

Request:
Prepare a functionality to have two style windows simultaneously open on the screen and when a tap is clicked in one style window the second style window's tab change in the same way.

Operating System: All
Version: 4.0.4.2 release

Hi!

I more or less get what you want to say.
Before continuing, the obvious question: did you consider the following: apply to styles to two paragraphs and see what is the result?
Best,
Cor

Thanks for consideration and comment.

This is the workaround I use currently.

I know that any request requires a dev to write the code I cannot do myself.

But imagine, you have two style windows in front of you an can directly compare...

Hi Joel,

thanks for considering the enhancement request.

Just a question: What about a question at AskLibO to see how much interest is given.?

I willing to post such a question but I before I doing it with a larger audience I would appreciate a first feedback to this idea to test response.

Hey Bugquest . . . :)

Well we don't really use a "voting" system as it leads to false hope. Enhancements are taken by developers who volunteer to do them. Our priorities are meant as guiding their decision but ultimately some devs will choose a LOWEST priority enhancement just because it sounds interesting to them, while others will look at highest.

This being said - we are moving to our own bug tracker soon and with it we'll have a "vote" type system (I know kind of contradicts previous statement ;) ) so let's just wait for that and then maybe we'll do a "vote for your top 10 enhancements" or some such things.

Just a note - we have about 1,500 enhancement requests :-D

Hi Joel,

Thanks for the feedback. Helped me to understand the situation.

1500 enhancement requests. I am not really surprised when I just think about my own ones and I am only 1 LibO user who rights enhancement requests.

To help, I should have studied how to clone devs.......

An own bag tracking system sounds very interesting. I hope that at the beginning there is a clear differentiation between bug report and enhancement request.

We will see...

Design team: I think it's worth it to re-evaluate this old one.

This idea has been superseded by the Styles Inspector, see bug 134554
