$ rpm -q libreoffice-writer

Actual results is error message with text:
General Error.
General input/output error.

This document is not a .DOC file; rather, it is an .RTF renamed to .DOC (or maybe some program generates RTFs and names them incorrectly, this is quite common in CIS countries).
If you rename it back, it opens OK.

I considered if this bug should be closed as NOTABUG, or transformed to enhancement request to improve logic that selects import filter, but 3.3.0.4 - 4.0.4.3 all open the file normally, so it should be considered a regression. Thus, confirm it as NEW and set keyword REGRESSION.
