Shows the font stretching.

The system where this is running is a Debian Testing AMD64 Linux Distribution running KDE Destktop Environment 4.8.4.

What happens is that after some random time that the Writer (have also seen it on Impress and much less commonly in Calc) shows the lines as in the picture attached. This has happened after both a graphics driver update and a system update.

One way of reproducing the problem (I have seen it work anywhere from all times to being a one shot thing) is to do the following.

Open Writer and a Document
Open Kate or Kile (seemed to work more often with this).
Open an existing file with Kate or Kile
Save As (input another name) with Kate or Kile.
When the operation is done what the writer shows should be corrupted in a way similar to the picture.

There is a variant of the bug where the letters get compressed in a single column to the margin of the page.

One thing I forgot to mention. The problem is solved by closing and opening the document again.

Hi,
Please take a look at bug 67640, which looks very similar to your bug. Is it the same issue?

From the description, and the screenshots, it is exactly the same problem that we have been experiencing.

I would like to add the following information. We have been having trouble with our video card which is an XFX ATI Radeon HD 7850. We thought it might be related to this however we have reproduced the problem with the same linux distribution and a XFCE environment and with both the propietary official driver and the free radeon xorg driver.

As the bug above states Calc is basically inmmune to the problem and it most frequently manifests itself when there is more than one document open.

Crashes have also been know to occurr.

Just to clarify there 20 machines with the exact same hardware and software that have this problem.

Also I know of other machines with the same distribution that do no exhibit this problem (different hardware of course).

Sorry, for the duplicated bug
