Testfile PPTX

This presentation always crashes LibreOffice Impress when press F5 for presenting a pptx-file. The same behavior on hardware x86 (IA32).

I tested both 4.0.4 and 4.2 master build just yesterday and did not experience the crash.

In the future please provide more info about your setup, no clue what distro, no clue if it's a regression or not, just the more info the better for us (within reason of course).

That being said, I tested on :

Bodhi Linux
LibreOffice Version 4.0.4
LibreOffice Version 4.2 built yesterday

Marking as NEEDINFO - please answer the following questions:

1. Does it work with 4.0.x?
2. What distro are you running?
3. Reset your profile if you are willing https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

If you had a problem with 4.0.x mark as UNCONFIRMED again, if you only experience the problem with 4.1.2 which is a pre-release, did you experience the issue with 4.1.1?

Mark bug as UNCONFIRMED once you have answered these questions, else QA will not look at the bug again. Thanks for your help

This sounds like a duplicate of 69169

Testfile ODP

I confirm this bug in LibreOffice 4.1.1.2 (TDF build) - it happens e.g. with this presentation and many others.
Distribution: Debian Wheezy 64-bits

I tried to play with graphic preferences (enable/disable graphic acceleration) without effect. Deleting user profile from ~/.config/libreoffice also did not help.

Hi Karsten -

Please read entire comments when QA puts them there, else we get hiccups in process

"Mark bug as UNCONFIRMED once you have answered these questions, else QA will not look at the bug again. Thanks for your help"

I just was browsing through emails and luckily stumbled across this one that you have provided more info for us.

I just tested again with 4.1.1.2 and indeed, I see a problem but it has been fixed in 4.2 master.

Marking as NEW, we'll see if we can find the patch that fixed it and backport it to 4.1.

New
Critical - crash/stops responding
High - default, seems appropriate

Please note that we are not always successful finding the patch that fixed a bug and then backporting it, if this is the case here, you will see the fix with release of 4.2

Requesting bibisect to see if we can pinpoint what fixed it
Comment 7 Karel Hruska 2013-09-25 05:40:40 UTC
Hi,
I tried to play with uploaded presentations and I think, that these crashes are related to transition effects in them. In both cases when I use no trasition effect or some simple effects, both presentations work without problems. But, the Impress crashes when I try to use some type of more complicated effects like fade from black or crossfade (maybe in English GUI these effects have different names - just guessing, since I use Czech translation).

I think this could be the starting point for the search of the cause.

Btw.: I can confirm the same bug on openSUSE 12.3 x86_64 with TDF build of LibreOffice.

This bug seems to be fixed in LibreOffice 4.1.2. Both testfiles work fine for me (Debian Wheezy amd64). Can you confirm that?
Comment 9 Karsten Henning 2013-10-10 06:11:10 UTC
Yes it works in this Version, I can confirm it. Should I change the status to RESOLVED or who makes it?

I am not sure, too. I thought it should be done by someone of admins.

If someone who previously could confirm the bug sees that it's fixed but doesn't know what patch fixed it, they can mark the bug as WFM :) Marking now, thanks for letting us know
