Comment 2 Cor Nouws 2013-09-11 09:10:57 UTC
Hi Erik,

thanks for the issue. I confirm the blank placeholders
(did not look in Excel)
I see the images do not show in LibreOffice 3.3.0 too. So already an older problem.

Regards,
Cor

  - check for duplicates should be done
  - set component to Filters $ Storage
Comment 3 Cor Nouws 2013-09-11 09:22:47 UTC
I see not xls related bugs with image import. but do see some for docx.
Added to the See also field
Comment 4 Cor Nouws 2013-09-11 12:12:29 UTC
So why should platform be Windows and Version 4.0.5.2 .. when I confirm the problem in 3.3.0 on Ubuntu :) ?
Comment 5 e3k 2013-09-11 12:20:36 UTC
i changed the platform to ALL. i did not test it on linux i have libreoffice there only.
Comment 6 Maxim Monastirsky 2013-09-11 13:32:48 UTC
@e3k: Hi, 'Version' field is for oldest known version which shows the bug, so I'll change it back to 3.3.0 according to Cor Nouws confirmation.
See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Fields/Version#How_we_use_this_field

@Cor Nouws: Hi, I don't think all those bugs you added to 'See also' field are related, for two reasons:
1) All those bugs are about images, while the current bug is about graphs (the summary is misleading, so I'll change it).
2) All those bugs are about files created by MS Office, while the current spreadsheet was created using Cognos 10.1, as clearly stated in summary. Moreover I opened the spreadsheet in Excel 2010 and resaved without making any changes, and then I was able to open it in LO 4.1.1.2 without any issues. Also tried with a new spreadsheet, and could not reproduce the bug with it.

What can be related is Bug 68884. It's about docx created by Word, but at least it's about graphs. I'll add it to 'See also'.

Still I'll leave the bugs you added in 'See also' field, and leave it for your decision.

@ maxim:
thanks for further testing. I've nothing to add ;)

The type of 'graph' indeed was something to be seen.
And looking at your test results, there is something odd with the file from cognos, probably..
Comment 9 e3k 2013-10-08 10:26:25 UTC
i did open a bug at AOO too. they tested that file with MS Office 2013 and there is the same issue. I will have to open a bug at cognos for this.

@Cor Nouws: could you be more specific about "The type of 'graph' indeed was something to be seen." maybe if i include a better description for cognos devs they will be able to fix it quicker.

Hi, Would be great if you could add a link to the AOO bug to 'See Also'.

I think he meant that it's a graph, not an image as originally was written in summary.

i did validate that document with Open XML SDK Tool and got 21 errors. Did forward it to Cognos support.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

*Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.4.1 or later)
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

*If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

*If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

   *Update the version field
*Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
*Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:

1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!
