odt document in which writer inserted a spurious object

I'm seeing quite often that when I open a odt document saved with LO (same version), a spurious object appears, usually at the beginning of the 2nd page.

However, this object isn't listed in the navigator tool, but it influence the text flow.

I'm attacching a doc where I'm seeing this weird thing: it's a 2 page A5 doc.

I'm attacching a screen shot of what I see: the spurious text flow is visible at the beginning of the 2nd page. You can see it's anchor this way:
- click on the star at the beginning
- hit tab -> you reach the spurious object

With this sample doc, writer freezes when you reach the spurious object. Other times that didn't happen.

The object still exists in the canvas but isn't
available via mouse or Navigator.

Version: 6.3.0.4
Build ID: 057fc023c990d676a43019934386b85b21a9ee99
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: de-AT (de_AT.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

I found three png pictures in the odt file. 100000000000000800000008913C8356.png is a small white rectangle. Maybe this picture is part of the visible file.

But I doubt this issue will ever be fixed. Paolo, I suggest to use a fresh new profile and test it with an actual version of LibreOffice and new files again.

Otherwise you have to wait another six or twelve years if a developer or someone else dig into the problem. If the issue isn't reproducible with another installation of LibreOffice (by creating a defected file) it's hardly possible to fix it.

Dear Paolo Benvenuto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
