does the issue happen just with Calc or with Writer as well?

did you try upgrading to 4.1.2.3 and resetting your user profile?
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile

does the issue still persist after that?
Comment 2 Julien Nabet 2013-10-11 21:00:07 UTC
oconcepcion: could you attach the file so we can try to reproduce this?
Moreover, did you install any LO specific extension? (if yes, which one?)

Comment 4 Maxim Monastirsky 2014-01-05 07:51:44 UTC
Might be related to Bug 68220 (fixed between 4.1.1.1 and 4.1.1.2), or to Bug 73021 (fixed towards 4.2.0.2).

@oconcepcion: Could you please try with a recent build (from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/), and report us if it's still crashing for you?
Comment 5 oconcepcion 2014-01-12 22:25:45 UTC
Spellcheck runs well on Calc, LO 4.3 alpha, and doesn't crash.
Comment 6 Julien Nabet 2014-01-20 22:42:08 UTC
Thank you oconcepcion for your feedback, so I put it as FIXED

I've kept LODev updated as new versions are released (almost everyday) and spellcheck doesn't even work on latest releases.
As seen on screenshots (attachments 92602 to 92607) even when spellchecking button is activated, misspelled words aren't marked, although status bar shows language configured in Options/Language.
Spellcheck window doesn't show any language selected.
During installation of software I selected both English and Spanish.
