Description Mihkel Tõnnov 2013-10-14 08:08:21 UTC
In the Replace and Exceptions tabs in the AutoCorrect dialog, users can choose the language the rules apply to (from top right of the dialog). On the Localized Options tab, they can't -- but it would be quite handy for automatic quote mark replacement for those who have to work with documents in several languages which happen to use different glyphs as quotation marks. For example, I regularly need „Estonian”, “English”, «Norwegian», ”Swedish”/»Swedish», »Danish«, sometimes also „German“ and ”Finnish”/»Finnish».

My current workaround is a custom keyboard layout where I can enter all these glyphs directly -- but that only works until I have to use someone else's computer.

Would it be possible to allow choosing the language also on the Localized Options tab page?

Okay, apparently this is *already* the default behaviour -- which I never knew because I had manually defined quotes for Estonian, thus overriding correct autoreplacement for other languages.

Also stumbled across bug 31609 -- resolving this bug as a duplicate.
