Description leeksoup 2013-10-19 23:30:49 UTC
Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. edit a presentation in Impress latest release (4.1.2.3)
2. save it to PPTX format
3. watch and wait

Current behavior:
Takes a lot of CPU and quite some time to save the file. Sometimes it hangs and I have to end the process. When I re-open Impress, it says it is recovering, but the unsaved material is quite uniformly lost.

Expected behavior:
Saves reasonably quickly. Does not hang.

Operating System: Fedora
Version: 4.1.2.3 release
Last worked in: 4.1.1.2 release

I pretty much have the same problem. Very annoying...

Please, could you try with the current generic Linux version in order to know if that is a problem in LibreOffice or only in the Fedora build.
I just try with version 4.1.4.0.0+ to save as pptx an odp file of 6.7 Mo and I do not even have the time to see the progress bar.

Do you work in pptx format or you export from odp to pptx when your presentation is finished? Working in a foreign format is not a good idea because that forces LibreOffice to constantly make conversion from its internal / OpenDocument format to the foreign one.

Additionally could you attach an example of a file that is too long to save as pptx?

Set status to NEEDINFO. Please, set it back to UNCONFIRMED once to requested informations have been provided.

Best regards. JBF

Sorry for the slow response. I had so many problems with editing these presentations in Impress that I gave up.

I was using the generic Linux version from the Libreoffice download site, not the Fedora version. If I see the problem again (unlikely as again I gave up on editing in Impress, so no need to save) I will report back here.

Thanks.

Please, do not reopen a very old bug report with a too vague description. That is completely useless. Alternatively, open a new bug report with a clear step by step procedure to reproduce the problematic behavior. And attach your test document to this new bug report.

Closing again. Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards. JBF
