Description Björn Michaelsen 2013-11-16 18:14:19 UTC
We currently have:
"If you need help with your patch or want to discuss it, do not hesitate to join #libreoffice-dev on freenode IRC."
in the footer on gerrits web UI.
I suggest we add:

<a href="git://anongit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core">Just give me the code!</a><br>
<a href="https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/gerrit">How to use get started with LibreOffice gerrit</a><br>

to that.

what about opengrok ? It could be better than cgit because it allows to search through the current code. IMO people who want to look at the code from the web rather search for an element better than get the history of the file.

My 2 cents

Well, if they provide a patch, they almost already have the code, no ?

Yes, but still someone looking for the code in the first place might easily take a wrong turn and end up with one of our link to gerrit and wonder how to get on from there.

Hello

What we have in Gerrit-etc is not what is in the new gerrit footer.
The "If you need help with gerrit itself, please send a email to gerrit@otrs..." text is not there.

Either the new ui should be fixed, or the repo updated with the new content.

True. I proposed this footer and pushed it to gerrit-etc. But this specific line you are referencing was removed by another Gerrit admin "this shouldn't be there"). Unfortunately it wasn't removed in gerrit-etc. Patch is highly appreciated.

I suggest this:

If you need help with your patch or want to discuss it, do not hesitate to join us. Look at the <a href="http://www.libreoffice.org/developers/">developer zone</a><br/>
Just give me <a href="git://anongit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core">the code!</a>&nbsp;|&nbsp;
How to get started with <a href="https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/gerrit">LibreOffice gerrit</a><br>

I removed the direct irc link, and redirect on the main developer page, which as irc link in first, but also mailing-list and other pointers. This will narrow the footer size.
