'Whitened' first slide of a presentation (with title, a picture of mine, etc.) as it is displayed on my external LCD monitor (2560x1440 pixel).

Problem description:

Presenting a presentation an my external monitor yields mostly white screen. See screenshot.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create or open any .odp
2. put some content on the slide
3. start presentation

Current behavior:

On a small screen / my laptop builtin screen all is fine.
Closing the laptop lid (so there's only my external monitor and display is switched to it), picture gets whitened as in screenshot. Reopening lid (switching back to laptop only) yields a complete white screen. Pressing ESC closes presentation - edit mode is displayed correctly. Pressing F5 again yields correct presentation (on the small screen).

Dual screen CLONING works 'fine' (low resolution of small screen).

Dual screen EXTEND works fine if the SMALL screen is used for the actual presentation (the big screen displays the presenter screen including preview and annotations correctly!). If the big screen is used for presentation, there is the whitened screen as shown in the screenshot.

Expected behavior:

Presentation should display correctly, even on a big screen.

Workaround:

Disabling Hardware accelleration resolves the issue, but I want to use it since the rendering quality is much better.

Notes:

Powerpoint 2010 and 2013 work correctly on the same hardware.
Operating System: Windows 8
Version: 4.1.3.2 release

Perhaps it has same root with Bug 40534, but I don't know whether it's a duplicate.

Just modify the summary a bit

@Olav, I think it's better if you attach test file that shows the problem. So anyone here could test using same source

same with a NEW presentation

This bug does NOT depend on the file content. To show, I started LO, created a new presentation, gave it a colored background and some title text. I'll attach that file anyway as attachment #3.

It is NOT necessary that two screens are ON. Internal screen (bug doesn't show if slides are presented here) is OFF (lid shut, see attachment #4, ONLY screen ON is my external screen (bug ALWAYS happens if slides are presented here).

System details: LO 4.2.5.2 on W8.1pro (fully patched, only typical office programs installed). Fujitsu LifeBook E780 (built-in NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M) with 8GB RAM. Resolution internal screen 1600x900, external screen (DVI) 2560x1440.

Yes, I have HW acceleration enabled - but I want/need to enable it for my business presentations. If I disable it, I get other oddities, like thin white horizontal stripes in vertical color gradients.

Apart from the original bug, this screenshot (attachment #2) also shows another oddity I encounter: the taskbar of Windows remains visible. IIRC, that only started happening with W8.1, not sure.

Ok thanks for the detailed info. So lets wait someone with large screen confirms this issue.

Perhaps it's possible for you to check with LO 4.0.x and/or 3.6.x to see whether it's a regression?
You could use portable version so it won't affects your current installation:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

But recommended way is using parallel install since it guarantees same result:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel#Windows

Then use this source for all LO releases (if you want to install in parallel): http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

same result in version 3.6, 4.0 and 4.3

OK, did parallel installs using LibreOffice Server Install GUI v. 4.2.3.1 (had to be run as admin to be able to create directories in my systems program directory.

Tested default installed versions 3.6.7.2, 4.0.6.2, 4.2.6.1 and 4.3.0.2. They had to be started once as admin to be able to run. Subsequent run work fine without admin rights. Tests are performed during second (non-admin) program run.

Just created new presentation and clicked on "Master slides" -> "Abstract red", then pressed F5. Then I took the screen shots.

The taskbar is NOT visible in 3.6 and 4.0 but is visible in 4.2 and 4.3 parallel installs.

Also note the small glitch in the lower left corner (present in all versions).

3.6.7.2 always crashes (even if I just start it and let it wait in the start screen) after approx. 25 seconds. Crashes also while presenting: the full screen presentation remains displaying the slide but upon pressing ESC, I get the crash notification. It yields the same display bug though (if creating the slide, change its master and F5 quick enough).

Thanks for the tests Olav, hope those information suffice for dev & someone to reproduce.

Set Version to 3.6.7.2 as oldest version you can reproduce it

Marking as "Duplicate of Bug 40534", not sure whether "resolved" is correct though.

Alright as requested by ign_christian on bug 40534 I used the attachment "just any new presentation" on my LibreOffice Portable 4.2.0.4 and can confirm the reported display glitches:

-With hardware acceleration enabled first slide is clipped by a white rectangle when in presentation mode on main or secondary 2560 x 1600 display
-Without hardware acceleration enabled background gradient displays whith thin white lines
-With hardware acceleration enabled and the disabled "Presenter console" found in Tools>Options>LibreOffice Impress>General>Enable Presenter Console, the white rectangle still clips the first slide.

Specs are Windows 7 64bits nVidia GTX 580, dual 2560 x 1600 displays
Check the new attached screenshots to get a visual feel of the reported glitched
