Created attachment 93687 [details] Large help content font It seems there is a new font used in displaying online help, which is ok. But the font size on OS X seems too large. See attached screenshot.
I think font size is fine. Not sure if this is indeed a bug. cc: Astron for some design feedback perspective on this.
I do not think it is fine. Compared to built-in OS X help, as well as to Microsoft Office on OS X help this is an enormous font size. Displaying only 13 lines of help text means a lot of unwanted scrolling thus making it really user unfriendly. It's just bad UX, not a feature (this could only be a feature for users of accessibility tools for visually impaired people that need larger fonts).

You def got a point. Added comparison of Word and LO help. NEW.
The screenshot from comment 0 definitely has a very large font. The screenshot from comment 3 looks okayish (slightly larger than normal but acceptable) to me. Miles@filmsi.net, have you made any changes to settings, recently? (Not sure where exactly such a setting might hide, but maybe in Tools > Options, under LibreOffice/Fonts or so.)
Sorry, the Options window is at a different place on Mac: it should be LibreOffice > Preferences instead of Tools > Options there.
No, I did not change anything there. I do remember older versions of LO on OSX and this was not the case there. Should probably download some older versions to check. My Fonts settings there are untouched, but changing them does not affect help content display.
No settings in OS X or in LibreOffice control or cause this insanely large font. The software does not appear to use Apple's standard Help system—and I appreciate that! The LibreOffice help system is much more complete and responsive, if it were not for the aggravatingly big font. Even if one had poor vision, the big font only affects help text, but the help navigation setup on the left of the help pane is all a standard small (normal) font. Seems like it should be an easy thing to deal with: What exactly tells Mac OS what font and size to use in the help text display, that is unique to that text block? Can a user control be implemented so that particular font size can be changed by the user?
Created attachment 95864 [details] before Isn't it a duplicate of bug 75040? If you think so, please close this bug as RESOLVED DUPLICATE. I post OSX screenshots of before/after state.
Created attachment 95865 [details] after
Andras, it hardly is a duplicate, because my report was first :D From your screenshot it cannot be confirmed, because your "before" state does not include the enormous font. Of course, it can be the case that this "serif" font on OS X is a very large one. I will only be able to test this when an OS X build with Slovenian langpack is available. I guess this will be 4.2.4?
Confirming the fix. Help now displays much smaller in the latest nightly from today. Thanks a lot for the fix, Andras. Very welcome improvement :) Commit and details here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75040
