Created attachment 95730 [details] Several Screenshots of the slides. The first shows the text being destroyed. The second shows a slide that is un-affected (somehow). The third shows the squares that are used to stretch the block of text, with the text being outside of the box. Problem description: I am working on a Powerpoint Presentation, and have already saved the presentation as .pptx multiple times. Yet, when I re-open the file: everything is scattered, the text spans across the slide and is no longer contained where I specified it to be. The issue is probably not conversion-based (from .odp to .pptx) because I converted this file some time ago, (which resulted in the first itme this problem occured, but I painstakingly fixed it by finding slides that didn't have problems, and making new (not duplicated) slides from them ('New Slide' actually copies the format of the slide you right click on - Another Bug)). I have re-saved this at college (on a Windows7 OS) and the Microsoft Powerpoint software didn't change it or anything. But when I worked on this file at home: it re-screwed up my slides. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create and save a LibreOffice Impress file as .pptx 2. Re-Open the file Current behavior: Formatting is somehow removed, and the Titles of the slides are shifted to the left in a different style. Expected behavior: I expect the program to save the file as it is, and not re-format/destroy it when "saving". Operating System: Linux (Other) Version: 4.1.3.2 release
It is a bad idea to work in a foreign file format because each save and each open need a format conversion. Your problem description does not allow to reproduce a scenario where a formatting would be destroyed. What we need would be a pptx file produced by LibreOffice and the description of a modification to be done on this file with LibreOffice that breaks the formatting. Please, could you provide such a pptx file and such a description (step by step) of the offending modification? Best regards. JBF
Created attachment 95742 [details] The File that is being Re-formatted Every time I save and re-open it. Instructions: You need only to type into one of the existing slides (or a new slide), save the file, and then re-open it to find that the text is messed up.
Your test file is already messed up. The text field on the first slide overflows the slide. Please, do not use MS formats, mainly not strict OOXML as working formats (indeed your file is a MSO 2007 format), but only as export formats. As MSO compatibility is known to not be 100%, you can't expect to avoid such kind of difficulties. So you should work in Open Document Format and export in OOXML strict only when your presentation is finished. I propose to close this bug report as WontFix. Best regards. JBF
tested under Win7x64 using LibO 4.2.5.2 as far as I see there's no format change between the file you uploaded if I edit and save it in 4.2.5.2 so you should retest with current 4.2.5.2 release and see if you still experience the same issues as before. you should also consider uploading the first version of the .pptx before being edited in LibO, since as JBF noticed the version you uploaded was already messed up and I suspect that it was not the original version with correct formatting moreover I do not see further format change when saving it again in 4.2.5.2. set status to NEEDINFO waiting for user feedback
Hi Tommy, I have no idea how the software is running now, I haven't used it for 2-3 months now and am now using a different operating system and haven't installed LibreOffice Impress on it yet. When I experienced that issue with Impress, I would encounter the problem when I saved the presentation as a Microsoft Powerpoint file. This would cause the automatic formatting in the LibreOffice version of the document to convert badly and the result would be text running off the slides to the left and right. But I haven't used the software since, so I'm unsure what the state of things are now.
