More and more open data is stored in git repositories. Some of these collections are quite useful already and the trend can be assumed to continue. It would be nice to make LibreOffice able to pull data from such sources of data (so that the data can be used in the document that the user creates). The integration in the UI of the data is likely specific to the data and the application. But to enable that, just being able to access data (readonly for a start) from such public git sources would be great. The question is where to implement that. LibreOffice itself depending on git would be quite a pain. Maybe libCMIS can consider git as just another protocol ...
This seems rather vague; plus, 10 years have passed. Is there a need to pull something from git repositories during build? ... which we are currently not pulling?
git server are (almost) available through http(s). what would be a specific use case here ?
