It's important to have an About page in the app. The page should provide information including the following: - Full version # (including build id/build date) - Authors - License information - Project page (Which can then provide links for docs, bug-reporting, etc..)
Status -> NEW
Yup - totally agreed.
We already ship author and licence information in the credits document, which can be opened from the Help > License information menu. The full version number is already displayed in the About box. And that very same box has a “Website” button.

Thanks -- I *thought* there was an About menu in the app, but when I didn't see one when I went looking for it, I figured that I must have been mistaken. It looks like I'm just seeing a regression. How is one supposed to access the Help menu? Testing AIR 2.1.0 on CM 10.2.1-crespo

(See component field). /me can't fins this info neither Kind regards, Joren
Ah — sorry about that! IIRC the About box in the Impress Remote app was removed because we stopped using any 3rd party libraries. I do agree that we should add it back with some developer & version credits :)
I would like to work on this, but, being new here, I find myself overwhelmed with the number of files on my disk after cloning the git. I would appreciate a pointer in the right direction. Thanks!
hey Marcel - let me see if I can find someone. Also try to send a message to the developer mailing list - and of course you can try the IRC channel where lots of devs pop in and out :) The bug tracker usually isn't the best place to find help as most people don't see the activity
(In reply to comment #8) > Also try to send a message to the developer mailing list Hi Joel, Thanks for your reply. I reposted my request to the mailinglist. I'll follow this page as well, on the off-chance that help might come to me through here :-).
@Joel: the mailinglist helped :-). I downloaded the app on my Android, and found the About page (with the necessary information) under the Menu-button. It seems to me that this bug is already fixed. I would suggest marking it as such. Being new here, I hesitate to do it myself, though ;-).
To avoid "edit-war" - please mail ux-advise first. It was explicit decision to remove the about dialog. I brought it to the list, and the response was it wasn't needed. I personally don't think it hurts (after all I adjusted the dialog to be present after all :-)) - but please don't just do it. http://www.mail-archive.com/libreoffice-ux-advise%40lists.freedesktop.org/msg02313.html (and of course you can then also start by reverting the commit that removed the dialog, and go on from there)
I think the About page should look something similar to the About box in the Android Viewer. I'd also suggest that we add a URL for reporting bugs.
Further to Robinson's note to UX-Advise maillist -- http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Libreoffice-ux-advise-Android-Impress-Remote-Let-s-fix-the-About-box-tt4137004.html So having grabbed the LibreOffice Viewer app yesterday, for a Moto G running Android 4.4.4, today I compared the Impress Remote UI. Not a big app user, but kind of a glaring omission to not be including the About panel with version info. Could/should the About panel details from the new Viewer (edited of course) be picked up in the code for Impress Remote?
