Description Stephen 2014-04-17 17:15:26 UTC
Problem description:

Some fonts are not showing up in LibreOffice. For example, I have installed:

Minion Pro Medium
Minion Pro Regular
Minion Pro Italic
Minion Pro Medium Italic
Minion Pro Bold
Minion Pro Semibold
Minion Pro Bold Italic
Minion Pro Semibold Italic
Minion Pro Bold Cond
Minion Pro Bold Cond Italic

BUT only the following show up in LibreOffice:

Minion Pro Regular
Minion Pro Italic
Minion Pro Bold
Minion Pro Semibold
Minion Pro Bold Italic
Minion Pro Semibold Italic
Minion Pro Bold Cond
Minion Pro Bold Cond Italic

(to put it another way, Medium and Medium Italic are missing)

In NeoOffice, by contrast, all fonts show up and are usable. I have checked the fonts, they are correctly installed and not corrupt. They are otfs, and are the same version and year as the fonts that ARE showing up.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install a font like Minion Pro with Medium variants
2. Open a doc and try to set one of those variants as the font

Current behavior:
Font not available. Opening character palette does not show all font variants

Expected behavior:

Medium (and other types, not sure if this affects others but suspect it does) font variables should be usable, as they are in NeoOffice, Word, Pages, etc.

Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.2.2.1 release

LibreOffice currently has problems with fonts in ttc format, so if any of these fonts are in that format, it will be unable to render them.

Stephen : core text font support is incomplete or buggy, so some weights in a given family are not shown in font list, and furthermore, if a font weight appears in the list, but isn't actually supported, tha fallback substitution sometimes also fails with unpredictable results
