Tested on openSUSE 13.1 with LibreOffice

Version: 4.1.6.2
Build ID: 410m0(Build:2)

and

Version: 4.3.0.0.beta1
Build ID: 2e39c7e59c8fc8b16a54c3d981dceef27fb0c07f

The text is correctly loaded and exported to PDF.

Hi Ofir..

Have you tried playing with LO setting ? Especially "View" (toggle h/w acceleration, anti-aliasing, etc).

I found that Impress in Ubuntu 'sensitive' to those settings, different results probably happen under different setting.
Comment 5 Ofir 2014-06-11 10:39:39 UTC
I tried to toggle h/w acceleration, anti-aliasing but I still can't see the text. I also have this issue on a server when using LO in headless mode.
Comment 6 ign_christian 2014-06-11 14:07:03 UTC
I just checked with Ubuntu 12.04 x86 and LO 4.2.4.2, not reproducible with/without h/w acceleration & anti-aliasing.

Btw to be more clear, the problem is while viewing the ppt or slideshow or export to pdf ? I saw no problems with those.

And please check again with LO 4.2.4.2 and reset user profile.
Comment 7 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2014-06-19 20:22:34 UTC
Not reproducible for me under Ubuntu 14.04 x86-64 with LO 4.3.0.1+, LO 4.2.6.0+ and LO 4.1.6, in both edit and slideshow modes.

Best regards. JBF

Tested again under Ubuntu 14.04 x86-64 as a virtualbox guest with LO 4.2.5.2 and I still can't see the text.

@Jean-Baptiste Faure did you install any fonts or is it a fresh Ubuntu machine?
Comment 9 Ofir 2014-06-19 21:48:39 UTC
Under Ubuntu Ubuntu 14.04 x86-64 as a virtualbox guest with 4.3.0.0.beta2 I can see the text.

Is it possible that I installed an additional package that is not installed by default in Ubuntu?
I've followed the instructions from:
http://www.yourownlinux.com/2014/05/how-to-install-libreoffice-4-3-beta-in-linux.html

@Ofir
please retest with LO 4.3.2.2 and give feedback of the bug status

P.S. I can see the text with 4.3.1.2 under Win7

Official instruction if using several versions in same system: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel

Please check also with recommended package (from PPA): https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
Comment 12 Ofir 2014-09-27 03:39:11 UTC
@tommy27

I've installed from the Ubuntu 4.3.X ppa which gives me 4.3.1.2 (not 4.3.2.2) and I still can't see the text.

Ubuntu 14.04 64bit under VirtualBox LO 4.3.1.2.

Hi Ofir,

It sounds like you've only been able to reproduce this problem with Ubuntu-provided builds. Please check again, this time using the TDF build of 4.3.2.2
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

...and following the instructions mentioned previously in this thread:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel

If you *can't* reproduce this bug w/TDF builds, please file the same bug against the LibreOffice package in Ubuntu. If you *can* reproduce it with a TDF build, please change the status here back to UNCONFIRMED.

Thanks!

I can confirm the problem on the attached .ppt file. I can NOT see the text, only a small line. See my attached screen-shot.

My test system:

LinuxMint 17 Cinnamon (based on Ubuntu 14.04) Hungarian locales
LO 4.2.6.3 Build id.: 420m0(Build:3)

TESTING in LO 4.3.2.2 + Ubuntu 14.04

To clarify: This isn't just some random text. This is a piece of WordArt. Big difference!

Repro Steps:
- Open attachment 97699 [details] (ppt showing the hidden text issue)
- EXPECTED: WordArt to be visible (see attachment 97700 [details] for PDF export of the document from PowerPoint)
- PROBLEM: No text; There is also a line added at the top left corner.

> Bad:
> I can't see the text on Ubuntu 14.04, LO 4.2.3.3

NO REPRO

I'm also testing on Ubuntu 14.04, and I can
(1) see the WordArt as expected, and
(2) do not see a line in the top left corner.

Status -> RESOLVED WORKSFORME

Ofir/penttila: Please try 4.3.2.2. If the problem is still present, change the status back to 'UNCONFIRMED'.

Thanks!
