Trying to read in the attached rtf file consistently causes Writer to hang on two different OS X computers. I don't know enough about how Writer works to provide more information than that. I'm not seeing this behavior with other files. The file seems unexpectedly large as well (3.6MB). Even Microsoft Office takes a while to read it in. It has no pictures or fancy formatting and is only 26 pages long so it shouldn't be so large. I originally started the file using Word but switched to using Writer to edit this file so perhaps some bug has caused it to add invisible garbage to the file? Anyway, thanks for taking the time to look at this!
Hi, please attached a test file. Thanks!
Put it in archive to be able to attach it here or use some filesharing service.
Created attachment 102793 [details] test file Whoops, the file was too big to be attached. I'm attaching a zipped copy.
Confirmed with version 4.2.6.1, windows XP SP3. It's loading forever, and my CPU keeps running 100%. It's worth mention that, this file opens fine in Apache OpenOffice 4.1 within 3 seconds.
jdien07: what's your LibreOffice version? Did it open fine in an earlier version?
The file contains a few hundred thousands of empty bookmarks.
I'm not sure what a bookmark is so I can't speak to that observation. I've never used that feature. One thought about what might be going on. I've typically been adding to this release notes file by copying text in my Matlab headers (Matlab is a scientific programming platform) and then copying them into the file using the Paste Special...unformatted text option. Could something about this procedure be inadvertently adding these invisible bookmarks? Some sort of bug? I'm currently using version 4.2.5.2 under OS X 10.9.4.
Pathological document, adjusting priority/severity.
(File does open here on master, but it takes 1 hour.)

Very slow but opens and no hang with 6.0+. If normal file, I'd rename, but with malformed file, I'll close.
