(In reply to comment #0) > I have spent a lot of time preparing my presentation. > Everything was ok. > I saved. > I re-opened. > The pictures have disappeared... Hi Horia, We'll need a bit more information before we're able to identify your problem. - What version of LibreOffice are you using? - (If it's okay to share it,) could you please attach your presentation to this bug report? When you've done that, please change the status of this bug report from NEEDINFO -> UNCONFIRMED. Thanks!
Good morning Robinson Tryon, Thank you a lot for your answer The version I am using is : Libre office MacOs_x86-64.dmg In fact, I am a teacher. I have spent three evenings trying to solve the problem. I even was afraid depression was coming back... I have tried to make the pictures as light (low in quality) as I could, they still disappear. I opened the "preference" menu. I made all the changes I could (probably mistakes I'll regret and won't be able to settle...). The pictures still do not reappear... I have tried to attach two versions of what I have tried and saved. There is nothing secret or confidential. It's just a presentation I am trying to create to help my students (we are French) revise the English tenses (a comic by Reiser with an overworked woman, 27 actions to describe). Here is the message I get : "The file you are trying to attach is 8362 kilobytes (KB) in size. Attachments cannot be more than 3000 KB. We recommend that you store your attachment elsewhere and then paste the URL to this file on the attachment creation page in the appropriate text field. Alternately, if your attachment is an image, you could convert it to a compressible format like JPG or PNG and try again." I don't know how to do that... If you can do something for this document, and for me to create others for my job, thank you so much. Horia
Hello Horia.. You still havent answered Qubit yet: your Libreoffice version ? Please see Bug 46447, Bug 81630, Bug 80849 that was fixed. Do you have same situation with one of those? Anyway you can upload your files in Dropbox, GoogleDrive, etc then paste the link here.
Reset whiteboard and QA Contact.
(In reply to comment #3) > Hello Horia.. You still havent answered Qubit yet: your Libreoffice version ? > To find the version number, open LibreOffice and navigate to Help -> About LibreOffice. Look for the line "Version: XXXXXX". For example, here's what I'm currently running: Version: 4.3.1.1 > Anyway you can upload your files in Dropbox, GoogleDrive, etc then paste the > link here. Feel free to start with a smaller example file. Just 1) open a new presentation, 2) add a single image, and 3) save it. If the image isn't there after you close and re-open the presentation file, please attach that file to this bug report. Assuming the image isn't huge, the presentation will be under the upload limit.
Hello Robinson Tryon and thank you for your answer Well, I am using a version for Apple : 4.3.0.4 (downloaded quite recently) I think I have finally found how to use dropbox... and am trying to paste the link now... https://www.dropbox.com/s/1srap4y1ay1ef7r/Reiser%20Linda%20Mopp.odp or I tried this too : https://www.dropbox.com/s/5yohs3ktm9x5j0f/Reiser%2520Linda%2520Mopp.mini.odp (It seems it has worked...) With only one picture, it definitely works, but it's definitely useless for me... I don't think my pictures are heavy, I have done everything I could to reduce... Thank you for helping me with all this mess that is driving me crazy... The easiest way to do that is to reply via Bugzilla directly, rather than via email. > https://www.dropbox.com/s/1srap4y1ay1ef7r/Reiser%20Linda%20Mopp.odp Tested on LO 4.3.1.1 + Ubuntu 12.04. I see a couple of images on the first slide, but the images on later slides are broken. Did you insert the images as links, or embed them? > With only one picture, it definitely works, but it's definitely useless for > me... > I don't think my pictures are heavy, I have done everything I could to > reduce... I don't think this is related to image size. It's definitely possible to include many images into a presentation and have it grow to 50MB+. Here's a quick excerpt of the underlying XML structure of the document. Here's the first page, showing images: <draw:page draw:name="page1" draw:style-name="dp1" draw:master-page-name="Default" presentation:presentation-page-layout-name="AL1T1"> ... <draw:image xlink:href="Pictures/10000000000009AE00000D53A6AB6863.png" xlink:type="simple" xlink:show="embed" xlink:actuate="onLoad"> <text:p/> </draw:image> ... </draw:page> And here's an excerpt from the 3rd page: <draw:page draw:name="page3" draw:style-name="dp1" draw:master-page-name="Default"> ... <draw:image xlink:href=""> <text:p/> </draw:image> ... </draw:page>
Created attachment 104699 [details] Test presentation with multiple slides and multiple pictures
(In reply to comment #8) > Created attachment 104699 [details] Horia - Please try opening this presentation on your computer, making a minor modification, then saving and re-opening. Let us know whether the images remain or disappear. I'm not sure how your user profile could be causing this kind of problem, but it sometimes resolves weird problems: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile
Hello Robinson Tryon and Ign Christian, Sorry for not having answered properly. I had not seen Ign Christian's answer and tried to read his first link when I saw it. Thank you very much, because it worked. I have done the presentation all over again from the second picture to the 27th and saved manually after each image. Apparenntly, the images disappear when several image are saved at a time. That explains why it worked with a single image (which was helpless for me). I did half the work yesterday, closed the computer several times and each time (including this morning) the images were still there. This morning, I inserted the rest of the images, shut the computer, re-opened, and everything is still there. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1srap4y1ay1ef7r/Reiser%20Linda%20Mopp.odp I just have to add my questions and suggestions of anwsers now. Thank you very much. Horia
NOOOO !!! They have all disappeared again !!
Here is what I have now... https://www.dropbox.com/s/1srap4y1ay1ef7r/Reiser%20Linda%20Mopp.odp
Horia - Please try opening this presentation on your computer, making a minor modification, then saving and re-opening. Let us know whether the images remain or disappear. I have tried this several times... it doesn't work...
(In reply to comment #11) > NOOOO !!! > > They have all disappeared again !! Hi Horia, I've been seeing the file size of Reiser%20Linda%20Mopp.odp fluctuate on Dropbox... The file I originally downloaded was 8.2MB, and was missing pictures Later in the night that file zoomed up to about 12MB (and looked much better) Now the file is down to 8.2MB, and is once again missing pictures I believe the url has been the same the whole time: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1srap4y1ay1ef7r/Reiser%20Linda%20Mopp.odp Are you auto-syncing this file to Dropbox? I wonder if there's an issue with the file system or sync..

Yes, the pictures still disappear.
Sorry, I know this is not going to help... But I don't understand a word of this : "Are you auto-syncing this file to Dropbox? I wonder if there's an issue with the file system or sync.."
PS / the problem started before I even knew "dropbox" existed... I don't know if there is a link, but I tried to have the software in French and downloaded LibreOffice Language pack. I couldn't have it in French and didn't really mind, so left it in English. Yesderday, it suddenly was in French. This morning, it is in English again... Anyway, thank you very much for trying to help.
Hello, I have just tried to uninstall LibreOffice and install it again (I tried another version, but it seems the second version has come back). Now, it seems it is working (I have closed and opened the computer several times). But I am waiting for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow to be sure... Thank you.
(In reply to comment #19) > I have just tried to uninstall LibreOffice and install it again (I tried > another version, but it seems the second version has come back). Hmm, not good. Did you try resetting your user profile? https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile > Now, it seems it is working (I have closed and opened the computer several > times). > > But I am waiting for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow to be sure... Sounds like a plan. Please let us know if the problems go away permanently.
Hello, I haven't tried it, but after I downloaded LibreOffice again, everything I did has not disappeared. The pictures are still there, I closed, reopened, closed again, went on working on the presentation and everything is still fine. Thank you, Horia

So....everything is working for you? :-) I'm going to change the status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME. Please feel free to change that back to UNCONFIRMED if the 'disappearing images' problem reappears.
Thank you !!
