Problem description:
Line numbering setting cannot be reversed with undo function.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new document
2. Write a few lines
3. Turn line numbering on (Tools > Line Numbering... > Show numbering > OK)
4. Undo (e.g., Edit > Undo)

Current behavior:
Last typed text will be deleted.

Expected behavior:
Line numbering is turned off.

Operating System: Linux (Other)
Version: 4.3.2.2 rc

Reproducible under Ubuntu 12.04 with various versions between LO 3.3.0.4 - 4.3.2.2, also with AOO 4.1.1

Only occurred with steps as described, in 1st line numbered
Comment 2 krajcsi 2014-09-26 18:09:39 UTC
What do you mean by 1st line numbering? You can't undo that only for the first time? Or only in the first line, but not the second line? For me the problem is quite general: line numbering cannot be undone in any situations, at least I haven't find yet a case where undo would work here.

It is still there.

Version: 6.3.2.2

I cannot tell if the bug is still there because there's a new bug: Following the steps in the first comment, in the third step, the line numbering does not appear.

Version: 7.2.2.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 02b2acce88a210515b4a5bb2e46cbfb63fe97d56
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.11; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Flatpak
Calc: threaded

The same lack of line numbering can be observed here too:

Version: 7.2.2.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 20(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.11; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.2.2~rc2-0ubuntu0.20.04.1~lo1
Calc: threaded
Comment 13 Eyal Rozenberg 2022-12-16 13:42:20 UTC
Bug still manifests with:

Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha1+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 360b5861fb46353e7a6b9f5abf13339cd719a8df
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.0; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-IL (en_IL); UI: en-US

... but not exactly just like krajcsi described: There are two inserted actions - which the user did not perform - when adding line numbers: A change in the Header PS and the footer PS. If I undo, one of those get undone, and if undo them both, then undo again, it's the typing of the last character. The introduction of Line Numbering cannot be undone.

Dear krajcsi,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
