The most common place to insert fields like page number, page count, etc. is the header and footer, so it would be good to have easy access to these additions in the context menu.
There are so many things to add, wouldn't it be better to make a specialized sidebar for the header/footer? When you're in the header section, it could automatically show up. This could give you the ability to quickly: * Insert fields like page number * Check boxes for "Different First Page" and "Different Odd/Even Pages" * Header/Footer Margin size * Option to delete header/footer
Adding page numbers in the contextual menu is different from modifying header and footer settings. A specialized page properties sidebar has already been proposed in bug 83830.
For me this sounds interesting, but as Joey wrote it could maybe also in addition be added in the Sidebar. Then you could add the page number and count with a right mouse click and through the Sidebar into the header/footer.
In bug 92685 Gülşah Köse has added in header/footer drop-down widget items "Insert page number" and "Insert page count" Heiko, may be can close this bug as FIXED? What do you think?
The request here is to provide an xml file for customization just like at any other context menu. Gülşah made hard code changes.
as there is no duplicated but since 2 years it look like users are ok that they can't customize the header/footer context menu. I propose to close this bug.
Let's resolve as WFM (see c4). We have page number and count now, could also think about chapter but that's up for a new ticket.
