How to reproduce:

[19:38:05][/tmp]$ touch za$'\305'%82._nr_5.xlsx
[19:38:10][/tmp]$ oocalc za* # makes LibreOffice Calc scream "file does not exist".

Confirmed in Fedora 21 with LO4.3.2.2.

Confirmed in OpenOffice 3.2.1 also

The java error is just me.

This is still happening in LibreOffice 5.0.3.2 00(Build:2) under Fedora 23.

I was able to reproduce it with:
Version: 6.3.4.2
Build ID: 60da17e045e08f1793c57c00ba83cdfce946d0aa
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; 
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded
