How to reproduce: 1) Open a Writer document. Write some text in the language matching your Windows keyboard settings. 2) Start writing text in another language. Select text and go to Tools > Language to mark it (for example French). Keep writing. LO will, before too long, start marking the text as a different language. In may case, I use a German hardware keyboard and German as a keyboard locale but often write in Gaelic or English and LO does my head in by chopping and changing the text language even after I manually set it. Based on https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=62336 this appears to be coming from Windows but there still should be a way of blocking it within LO for user friendlliness.
Already there.
Already where?
Still a problem in 5.0.4.2 and given Urmas trolling, I don't believe this is resolved *at all*
Correcting status. Michael: are you still seeing this in 5.2?
Yes it's still doing it. I currently have the German hardware keyboard, Scottish Gaelic (GLA) and British English installed as keyboard layouts in Windows. Under GLA, it mostly seems to behave i.e. I have been able to mark a selection as Gaelic, German or French and LO stick with that. When I switch to the EN-UK layout in Windows, no matter what I set the language of the selected to, if I type another word then LO forces the language of the section to English.
In 5.2.0 the assigned text language is unchanged when 'Ignore system input language' option is off, as it should be.
Urmias, with all due respect, with your history of antipathy to smaller languages, I'm not ready to just close this on your say so.
(In reply to Michael Bauer from comment #7) > Urmias, with all due respect, with your history of antipathy to smaller > languages, I'm not ready to just close this on your say so. So did you try it (Tools - options - language settings - languages: Checkbox at the bottom)?
Ok that does seem to work and for once Urmas was right. I feel like another bug coming up though because the wording of that is horrible, like anyone but a dev will get that. But happy to close this one for now.
Thanks, Michael and feel free to open a new report. You can also consider working with us some more, contact info is in this index: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA
Thanks for the suggestion but between my localization work for LO (and lots of others), I have to stick to reporting issues as I come across them, I don't have spare time to get into anything formal on that front I'm afraid.
