It would be useful to have a tooltip on the drop down that appears when you click on the button above the properties tab button. Something like 'Sidebar Settings' or 'Sidebar Properties'.

Maxim Monastirsky committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "master":

tdf#87009 Add a tooltip to the sidebar settings button

It will be available in 5.1.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More

Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.
