Description Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2014-12-25 11:45:11 UTC
In Writer, when an inserted image is added to a document and it is rotated by 90 degree, the image original image is not retained and a new image is created from the original image using the rotated direction. This is in contrast to the flip horizontal and vertical commands which do not create new images when they are toggled.

Is this problem due to a limitation of the ODF format?

This is a limitation of Writer as it has its own implementation of image which doesn't support rotation. The situation is actually quite messy as the common (Draw/Impress/Calc) implementation has some features that Writer implementation doesn't and vice versa. The idea is to get rid of Writer implementation and implement the missing features in common image implementation but this is quite some work and not easy.

I think there is alredy a bug about this.

Jay,

please only use the UX-Advise component and list to request the attention of UX. This bug doesn’t need that.

Adolfo: Sorry about that. My bugzilla landing page always auto sets it to UX-Advice and i forgot to change it. Will be more careful. :D
