Hi, Apparently TDF doesn't run the LibreOffice PPAs on Launchpad that lack a repository which offers whichever version is currently considered 'Still' (see bug 88318). My enhancement request is that rather than (or in additional to) TDF offering lots of seperate .tar.gz files filled with .deb packages on the web site. TDF hosts an actual signed Debian repository with these same packages, e.g. deb http://deb.libreoffice.org/ still main This would be a woefully easier way than manually extracting and installing individual packages, provide for automatic updates and allow the main programs, help files and language packs to be accessible from one central place. Those who seek a solid and stable version of LibreOffice prefer 'Still' but may still be on an long term supported Linux distribution like Ubuntu 12.04 that won't expire until 2017. This repository would be handy to those people rather than them being stuck with LibreOffice 3.5 for years. Additionally when 4.3 becomes 'Still' it would be handy to Ubuntu 14.04 users also (which already has 4.2). Obviously this repository would also be handy for Debian and Mint users too. I'd be more than willing to lend a hand as I've ran Debian repositories before. Steven

This is not a duplicate, The other bug relates to a feature request for a PPA (and the existing ones are not hanled by TDF) *This* bug relates to a feature request for TDF to host their own repository (PPA or not).
> TDF *hosts* an actual signed Debian repository with these same ????? We’ve never hosted a Debian repository. File your wish to Debian, every distro is responsible of providing (and updating) the packages to their users as they see fit. This bug tracker is for actual issues with our software.
I'm not saying TDF *does* host a Debian-type repository, I'm saying it's my *request* that TDF considers hosting one themselves from now on. Plenty of software totally ignores packaging for distributions let alone a repository (e.g. Firefox). Some other software do the packaging themselves and host a repository (e.g. Chrome). LibreOffice seems to be half way in between, you're willing to put packages together yourself (the .deb's in the .tar.gz's on the web site) but not willing to make them more easily used by hosting them in a repository on your servers that'd use just as much bandwidth anyway! So... a) my request isn't one for Debian or the maintainers of the current Launchpad PPA's b) you do have section in this bugtracker which is for 'Installation' and for 'enhancements' so it shouldn't be such a shock I'm raising this here If you simply don't want to explore this idea at all then at least have the decency to mark this as WONTFIX and unmark this as a duplicate of 88318.
