I installed this morning, super excited. Unfortunately when I tap on an odf, docx, or other file on my phone, the Libreoffice viewer opens to a black screen, thrashes for awhile, then closes and send me back to wherever I was before. I tried restarting phone, I tried 10 different files, nothing has been able to open sucessfully with the program. Thanks, Kevin

That's no good! I just confirmed that attachment 112633 [details] (an ODT file) opens fine for me on my test device. Please 1) try that file to make sure that we're not just running into squirrelly test files! 2) Tell us what version of Android you're running Status -> NEEDINFO (Please change status back to UNCONFIRMED after you test. Thanks!)
Created attachment 112639 [details] test odt file that doesn't work with Android Viewer
hey so the file you sent me works! Awesome! but all of the odt and docx files I make in LO 4.3.5 don't :\ I've attached an example odt file I just created using Libreoffice 4.3.5.2 on Linux Mint. Please try this one and let me know if it works? I'm using Android 5.0.1 (sorry for double post, haven't used bugzilla a lot)

It's possible that the Android mismatch (4.4.4 vs 5.0.1) or a different version of LibreOffice is the explanation here. What version of the LO Viewer are you using?
hey Robinson, it's the alpha 4.5000+, the one that is currently available on the Google Play store (as of 2015-01-21)
4.5.0.0.alpha0+
Hi So I am seeing the same crashes that Kevin is experiencing. I am running Libreoffice Viewer Version 4.5.0.0.alpha0+ Google Nexus 5 Android 5.0.1 The crash happens in the same way that Kevin describes and is present for both ODT files and docx files I have tried. I have uploaded a test document that I tried which crashes the viewer. Also attachment 112633 [details] does not open on my phone, I get a crash. This appears to then be an issue with the viewer running on Android 5.0.1. If you need me to test any other documents or provide further info let me know. Gabriel

Devs: Please check on Android 5+ Status -> NEW
What is useful is the 'adb logcat' output - if you install adb and turn developer mode on. Unfortunately without better specificity we're going to just pile up some huge number of different crasher problems in this bug =) I'm using a Nexus 7 with Android 5.0.2 and it works well enough here =)
I'll try to figure out how to install adb tonight after work.
The update that came out earlier today via Google Play (in the past 4 hours anyways (build ID e12d566)) has fixed my problem. I've tested five odt files and they all opened. I'm unable to replicate the issue I had. So it's resolved I think? (marking it as such.) Funny observation, one of my LO created docx files opened, but all the text was in Sanskrit :D - but another LO created docx file opened just fine.. not sure what that was about but it's not of grave concern. Thanks to whoever fixed this!!

It would be great if you could file a new bug and attach the docx that looks fine and the docx that shows up as sanskrit. We can then test to see if we get the same results as you (and check both on Android and on the desktop).
Today's update fixes the crashes for me as well. Good stuff. :)
