Description Doug 2015-02-08 03:45:47 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Create text field on Table1, enter text
2. Create Form1 with Table1 as source
3. Create formatted control by creating any kind of control and then doing `replace with` `formatted field`
4. In control dialog, change formatting to `text` which is represented by symbol `@`
5. Navigate through records with form

ANTICIPATED RESULT:

Field control should display text.

UNEXPECTED RESULT:

Field only displays text as '0' as if it is a numeric field. Formatting unsuccessful or broken. Does not display text, only number and converts letters to '0'

Open form "Fields" - Varchar shows '0' | open Form "Tablecontrol" - Varchar shows text

There is a difference in the behavior of the formatted field inside a tablecontrol of a form and as separate field.
If you create a tablecontrol the formatted field shows text the right way.
If you are using a form with separate controls the formatted field shows '0' instead of text.

Have created an attachment which shows the different behavior in two forms. In both forms a formatted field with the same format is used.

My System OpenSUSE 13.2 64bit rpm Linux, LO 4.3.6.2

Another hint:
Open the control in the form "Fields". Right mouseclick on control "txtVarchar". Properties: Formatted Field → General → Formatting. Delete the word "text" at this position.
Save the form, restart.
The control will show text now - instead of wrong '0'.

Tested with 5.1.1.1, OpenSUSE 42.1 64bit romp Linux.
Created a form with control.
Opened the form - shows the text in the text-control.
Replaced the text-control to formatted field.
Opened the form for editing.
Shows now ",00" instead of text.
Reopened and changed the formatted-control to "text".
Opened the form for editing.
Shows now "0" instead of text.

Only way to show text here is to delete every formatting - also the word "text" in the properties of the control.

Bug still exists.
