Problem description: no option to enter password to edit document when opening document Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to File > Save as 2. In Save as dialogue, enter a name for your document and select □ Save with password 3. In Select password dialogue, enter (2x) a password to ***allow changes*** (we don't want a password to open the file) 4. Save and close document 5. Re-open document Current behavior: The document opens in read-only mode with no message to enter a password to edit the document Expected behavior: The document opens and the user is prompted to enter a password to edit the document Software used : O/S : Win 8.1 in French LO : 4.3.5.2 in French
For me not reproducible with LO 4.4.0.3, Win 8.1. I have the button EDIT DOCUMENT where I can enter the password. If you enter a password in the File Encryption Password section of the password save dialogue box then this file needs to open a password. If you enter it in the File Sharing Password section (-> + OPTIONS) then you need a password to edit this file. The file is in this case opened as Read Only. To edit the file you need to select the button EDIT DOCUMENT and to enter the password. This EDIT DOCUMENT button you can find in the Read Only bar below the menu. @Bug Reporter: Do you not have this EDIT DOCUMENT button or do you mean that this is not meaningful enough and that there should be additional information?
@Bug Reporter: Do you not have this EDIT DOCUMENT button or do you mean that this is not meaningful enough and that there should be additional information? Thanks for your prompt answer indeed. I found the button and was able to edit the document. I was just expecting a message to pop up after opening the file instead of using a button to be able to edit the document. Thank you for your input.

Thank you very much for your very fast reply! Is it in that case ok, if we close this bug report or do you want to keep it?
Yes please close this case as it is more something to do with how Writer works.
