With the tooltips from the bottom bar I have noticed several problems: 1. Normally if the mouse cursor gets hovered over an entry on the bottom bar (for example over the page number) the tooltip will always appear a little over the bottom bar. But if I'm moving the mouse cursor from the down (where the taskbar of my system is) to the bottom bar the appearing tooltip does then overlap the bottom bar. 2. If a tooltip on the bottom bar appears and the mouse cursor gets moved fast enough away from it the tooltip will not immediately vanish. 3. Mostly if I'm moving the mouse cursor from the taskbar over the bottom bar to the document the tooltip does then appear after the mouse cursor is already over the document. Also I'm seeing the tooltips in Writer but not in Calc. Or is this maybe intended?
Reproduced 1. and 2. on Windows. Very minor glitches that might stem from the operating system level. Is 1. even a real problem? Giving this to the design team to mull over and decide, whether we're seeing any actual problems. (In reply to Beluga from comment #1) > Is 1. even a real problem? I think so because the tooltip also appears with a small part over the mouse cursor which often results on mouse moving that the tooltip gets replaced consecutively a few times.
Created attachment 113730 [details] examples of tooltips I believe 1. is a real problem and it happens in the toolbar as well and it was one of the things i planned to file a bug report about. There should be a sufficient amount of space between the mouse cursor and the tooltip and when the tooltip appears below the cursor, the bottom of the cursor should be the starting position of the distance.
I guess its up to the OS how to handle tooltips. And tweaking this (with high effort) results often in major usability flaws.

Tested with 6.0 on W7 and everything works fine.
