Description Marina Latini (SUSE) 2015-03-11 16:04:43 UTC
Description:
in SI-GUI 4.4.0.9 you can select three components to be downloaded.
On the top right corner, a checkbox permit to select the main installer, the offline help and the SDK. A user can select a checkbox also when the associated component is unavailable.

Current:
The user selects the checkbox and the download procedure downloads only the available components.

Expected:
The user can select only the available components.

Hi,

This works as expected. Manageable to do, but I cannot see the improvmwnt from an user perspective. Is it so inintuitive, that only available things get downloaded?

I'll try to explain my point of view. I'm agree with you, SI-GUI shows up a message for all the available downloads but I have a doubt in this workflow.
When I configure an interface for downloading something and select the available options, I expect that the application downloads all the components that I want to download.
Now I select the checkboxes but I need to wait the next step for being sure that all my choices can be satisfied and I need to confirm again my choices.

For this reason I think that it's more clear to enable only the available options.

BTW, I'm not a UX design expert, please, evaluate my request as "my two cents" ;)

I do not plan to fix this issue as I do not have the information available. As some builds only have some specific languages the language chooser dialoge would have to reflect that in some way as well.

I do not know how much / for what the tool is used at the moment. But I was told that we would have Auto updating master builds relatively soon.

(Why am I replying now: got the notification)
