1. New Text Document.
2. Tools -> AutoCorrect Options -> Options tab.
3. Check all boxes for Delete spaces and tabs from beginning and end of paragraph/line and OK.
4. Type " This is a test." and Return.
Expected Result:
Space at beginning of paragraph is deleted.
Result:
Nothing happens.

Reproducible with LO 4.4.1.2, Win 8.1

Unfortunately, there is currently no English online help available for this dialog.

Additionally, if you type " 1." and return, then it autocorrects.  If you type " 1. test." and return, then it autocorrects, but if you leave out the punctuation after the "1" when you type " 1 test.", then it does not autocorect.

You can substitute "1" with "i" in the test above and get the same results.

You can substitute "1" with "a" in the test above and it does not autocorrect.

Nevermind.

The Apply Styles option must also be selected.
