Is there any possibility to add PHONETIC function to extract the phonetic (furigana) characters from a text string. I think many Japanese users want this function. ex. If cells A1 contains "東京" the following are true: =PHONETIC(A1) equals "トウキョウ" Also, if you import Excel book which uses PHONETIC function, #NAME? error occurs because Calc doesn't have one. Best regards.

@Eike: What's the status of PHONETIC function? http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2011-November/020844.html I didn't found this function in odf format spec. Thank you
On purpose.. in http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2011-November/020844.html you linked I gave the explanation. If some native Japanese speaking developer feels entitled to tackle this, welcome. I have no clue.
