The legend cannot be positioned within the graph permanently.

The legend inside a Calc bar chart cannot be fixed in LibreOffice Writer.

If you copy and paste a table from calc with bar charts you cannot fix the legend within the graph permanently.
You can do it temporarily but after saving the odt document and reloading it again, the legend is positioned at the top left corner, regardless what its previous position and size were set by the user.

You don't mention what is your LibreOffice version and your operating system.

Save and reopen fine for me with:

Win7x64

For me also not reproducible with LO 4.4.1.2, Win 8.1.  Maybe a Linux only issue.  Therefore, I changed the OS to Linux until anybody else can confirm it on an another OS.
